Just something I thought I'd bring up, since it seems fine to commission pics of copyrighted characters but not stories. I have my theories as to why, but I wanted a second opinion.

My best friend keeps telling me that I should charge for some of my fics, But I feel a little leery of doing so. I mostly post on AFF which has rules against it so I don't. Though I would like to be able to make some money on it now and then considering how much time and effort I put into some which can be just as much as what an artist would for a drawing.

The story hits closer to being actual content, i guess?

it would likely fall under fair use if done in a certain way, so yes

I say yes with the intense bias of it would be awesome to get paid for my fanfiction
