How should i improve this?
Hey guys so awhile back on DA i posted a journal entry asking people what video game character they would like to see me ATTEMPT to draw being hypnotized (keyword attempt because the majority of them were horrible drawings,) However there was one drawing that came out to be at least decent quality and that was a drawing i did based off of the Kaa and Shanti scene from Jungle Book 2 and that drawing was Lilly from the SNES game Illusion of Gaia ( one of my favorite games from my childhood actually) being hypnotized by Kaa and recently i've decided to redraw it digitally and cellshade it if you want to see the original drawing i did here it is below warning its bad lol:

so what i want to ask you guys is that here is a preview of what the redraw with partial cellshading currently looks like i just need to apply the blur to blend the shade colors and add a glow effect to the eyes and its done but what i want to know is if there's anything you guys feel i should fix or improve on before i finish up the cell shading and post it. So here's the preview:

>Head too big, (her) left cheek too far out + squarish
>Lines too jittery, probably too late to redraw, but would really help
>As neck connects to head it jarringly expands out a bit
>(Her) Left shoulder droops too far down and left arm starts out really skinny from the shirt sleeve
>Breasts don't need to be big, but they're certainly not drawn like that where they don't connect to the entire chest
>Kaa's body thickens too much as it extends upward and goes beyond the border

Seriously, as much as it's a pain in the arse, these are what you should rework on before advancing any further...

If I'm being honest, I think the new picture might be in need of a redraw entirely. ^^; But don't get discouraged! Sometimes you gotta start from scratch to get the best results. I sometimes find myself redrawing something at least three times before I'm satisfied. :)

Also wow, I recognize the picture from your avatar! :D Gosh dang, that seems like such a long time ago, haha!

Draw the body + face parts in shapes instead of drawing it all freehand.

Use the bezier tool of your drawing application when you lack stiff hands.

Can you go into detail here? For instance, what is the bezier tool?

^Perhaps...?

That indeed |=(:3

It's also called Paths in GIMP, and Linework in SAI (when using a Linework layer).

But in Krita and Inkscape it's just called the Bézier (Curve) tool.

You could grab your current pic and put a layer over it and trace it over using the bezier curve tool. It's a lot of work, but practice improves skill.

What might it be called in Manga Studio?

what i usually do is i do my linework in paint.net (free alternative to photoshop, and is alot more user friendly which is what i like) using the paintbrush tool and then i do my cellshading in Sai the reason for the shaky lines is probably because i don't have a tablet so i can't digitally "handdraw" so i have to go very very slow and try and keep my mouse as still as possible. Thus the reason for shaky lines because im using a mouse. And the only curve tool that i actually access to is the line tool the main issue with it is that it takes twice as long with the line tool and you have to rely on basically connecting lines. That was actually one of my ideas to fix it to just redo it on another the line tool and see better i can improve despite the tedious process of connecting lines with the line tool. All i really is figure out the proportions that i need i'll redo line work with line tool update you guys when its done.
