Warning for British People Concerned that They Are Being Spied On
www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-38134560
Personally I'd recommend reading this and taking any precautions you wish. I myself am now using a VPN when going on here due to this though

Thanks for the information,
be careful and invest into VPNs if needed and possible!

I cannot believe this actually got passed; it was blocked twice by the EU for violations of human rights previously. How did anyone vote this in?

Because the Tories keep getting to make decisions.

Hey, I approved of this thread because I thought people would be smart enough not to start political arguements, please cut it out or I will sadly have to lock this thread..

Sorry, wasn't aware political discussion wasn't allowed

Threads with a particularly high chance of causing drama due to their extremely sensitive topics are not to be posted.

I made sure that Ashurath does not bring up anything related to politics, it's just a shout out, so let's just stay on topic and be nice without arguements. ^w^

Threads must remain at least tangentially on topic. Hopelessly off topic threads may be locked if they cannot be refocused.

And that one, yea, so let's just refrain from politics~

I remember hearing about this, and I honestly don't think it'll be too much of a problem. Statistically speaking, the likelihood of any individual having their privacy breached is very low, unless they have performed activities to increase such risk. As such, I'm not too worried about my personal standing as far is this goes, and I certainly won't be buying a VPN, but I can see why this is a reasonably serious issue. Besides, there is still some chance that this will be shot down anyway.

In any case, I'd say that overall, my opinion is "Don't Panic."

Just put a towel over your computer that should keep it hidden from everyone.

As a Dutchman, I'm still surprised that George Orwell and Aldous Huxley -two British writers- warned for this behaviour, and it just happens...

Using VPN is a temporary solution because it's easy to make the use of outlawed.

Voting for something else than Labour or Conservatives would help more since both parties don't seem to give a fuck.

There are some good free VPNs out there like CyberGhost.
