Why is time stop considered MC?
In some websites, time stop seems to be considered a subset of mind control, which confuses me since the free will of the victim is neither being manipulated nor robbed. Anyone know why that is?

I think because it is manipulation of the person without their being aware of it. Mind control is a surprisingly broad spectrum.

The only time I would EVER consider this MC is when it's like Rollo from Code Geass R2.

He stops people's PERCEPTION of time, but not ACTUAL time.

Though I guess for those people in the philosophical camp that time is an illusion and that it's ALL perception and that time is metaphorical and not real, then I guess it would apply to everything and be MC if it is shown to "stop" in a fictional work.

I doubt people who want to get their rocks off have much mental capacity to spare for philosophy

The weird thing is that there IS porn where the guy uses MC to "freeze" the girls, i.e. command them to stop moving and responding to stuff in general, but I don't know if they're abundant enough to warrant the merging.

I always had this doubt, Time Stop isn't a direct control or anything like that.

I would guess it's because on a superficial level time stop looks very similar to some types of mind control. It usually involves having sex with someone that is standing still, with an unchanging expression, and doesn't respond properly to stimulus. Could also be because a lot of time stops allow the user to move other people around and pose them however they want, in a pseudo body control way.

I don't really agree with the classification but I can see why playing with someone's body like a doll while they stare ahead blankly and don't resist any moves made on them could set off MC flags.

Time stop is definitely not mind control as you are manipulating reality itself to stop the flow of time around you, heck under such situations it would be impossible to mind control someone while the flow of time is stagnant unless you put something on the person so when the flow of time goes back to normal that device activates, whoever tags them as such on those sites does not pay attention.

Yeah that's always bugged me. I mean I get it when it's a suggestion, or perceptional thing, but when it's actually stopping time itself it only fits if time is a person unable to resist the commands. (Haven't seen that yet.) I mean there was one where it kind of worked, but that story operated off the idea that suggestions to a time stopped person infiltrated their subconcious, but that's it.

YOU EXPECTED MIND CONTROL, BUT IT WAS ME, DIO!

as others have said, it's not MC, but it does share a lot of similar traits, so people sometimes just lump 'em together

Time Stop ain't Mind Control though. I know for I love Time Stop as much as Mind Control, and whoever says that Time Stop falls under Mind Control is stupid.

What do you classify it as instead? Magick? Do you give it its own thing?

I've actually seen hypno vids (probably one of Red's) where one of the segments is labelled "time stop." What do you do then?

Unaware. They're unaware.

I think the other question I have is why one feels so compelled to make a distinction, especially with such vitriol? It's that line of behavior that can make someone a "bad fan."
