Do you think Angry Joe is a good reviewer?
here's the video that brought on this topic. (www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgQWm9laEjc)

But the question is straightforward, do you think Angry Joe is a good reviewer - why or why not?

the only thing I know about angry joe is that one time he went "holy shit guys I'm in a video game"

that was funny

The best part was it was a shitty MUGEN character.

And as someone with a quality MUGEN build, it was a VERY shitty character.

For me, I think it depends on the game. He can bring up good arguments when trying to argue a point, but he can also get very nitpicky on others. Like he'll get mad if a game has an unnecessary open-world when it doesn't need one, but also gets mad if it has invisible walls, that make a game not open-world.

I don't like how he does half-hour long reviews only for him to boil it down to an arbitrary numerical score at the end, though that's my issue with reviewers that use numerical scales in general.

Where it isn't really tied to his videogame review side of things I kinda stopped listening to Joe after he kept insisting that suicide squad was great movie. He just came off as a mindless fan boy in that video which really put me off.

Is he entertaining? Yeah, he tends to be.

Is he good? Well, like you said, he was really fanboying hard over Suicide Squad which was an okay movie with a lot of problems. But at the same time, even though he was really looking to like BvS, he did call it a piece of crap. I think he did a collab review with Nostalgia Critic over it, didn't he? They both blasted it and Zack Snyder's direction.

To me, AJ is kind of a mixed bag. I don't really watch him, but if he does cover something that's mildly interesting to me, I'll waste 15 minutes (especially over that shitty Ghostbusters game that came out with Ghostbusters: Answer the Call).

It's called ripping good characters from good games, and experimenting with a few interesting customs.

Just give me good versions of Metal Sonic, Jenny/XJ9, Deadpool and Akuma and I will be happy.

In terms of Joe?? I've been a fan for years but I dropped of some months ago. I've always paid attention to his game reviews but never really to the movie ones. I've actually dodged some
Bullets thanks to Joe, but honestly, I can see where the criticism about him comes from.

I hope you realize that it isn't that simple. You don't just "rip" a character from a game and it instantly works in MUGEN. You have to actually make their moves and stuff work. The problem is that 99% of the people who use MUGEN have no clue whatsoever about fighting game balance or... fighting game design at all. You end up with characters who are even from the same game, that are vastly different in power and design quality... and then you factor in characters from different kinds of games and all sense of balance goes out the window.

It makes no sense to even bother downloading most characters, because why would you bother downloading a relatively accurate version of Street Fighter Alpha 3 Ryu... when MvC2 Magneto will annihilate him every time, and SSJ7 Hyper Alpha Omega Infinite Vegetto Mark III will oneshot everything anyway?

We tend to end up with basically the same opinions of games, so in that sense he's a useful reviewer for me.

But is he a good reviewer? I think his reviews have good production value and are well-paced, although they are pretty long. He sometimes repeats himself, but overall I think he's at least moderately good at what he does. He goes into detail (usually) without going overboard.

So overall, good presentation, in-depth, accurate (for me), but a little too lengthy, and he maybe rides the "angry" thing a little too hard. I'd give him a 7.1 out of 10.

hit or miss. sometimes he has good thoughts and insights like his crosover review of man of steel, and/or reliably lists out the problems of an easy target like his review of no mans sky. but at other times, he gives an overall positive review to mass effect andromeda. so his kinda just all over the place

I haven't watchted enough to have a real opinion. But the few that i have watchted seemed pretty in line with my thoughts on the games/movies that he was talking about in those.

And I hope you realize that I just want to fuck around with characters that shouldn't be interacting, and appreciating custom spritework. As long as it's not too broken, or too shit tier, I honestly don't care. It just gives me something to work on, and the added benefit of a rad mix tape.

<<infinitymugenteam.com/FrameCharacters_Marvel.htm|The Deadpool found here is my personal choice>>, and for Akuma <<gmsniper.webcrow.jp/|you can't do any better than the 3rd Strike perfect one found here.>> Also, I don't personally consider these as "good" but feel free to fuck around with <<mugen.wikia.com/wiki/Jenny_XJ9|some of these Jennys.>>

Out of luck with Metal tho, much to my gigantic dismay.
