good gaming laptop?
as the title says, i'm in the market for a new gaming laptop and I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations. The games I typcally play on pc are warframe, planetside 2, disgaea, and recently god eater. I had my eye on this omen brand laptop in best buy but I don't know much about the brand. what do you guys think? or do you have any other recommendations?

I know some people will probably just say it's best to build my own gaming pc which is on my to-do list, but I've been meaning to upgrade my laptop anyway so I figured I'd start there.

There's pretty much no reason to have a "gaming laptop". It'll cost you way more than gaming desktop and you'll get significantly worse performance for your money.

You can DM me if you need help working the internals for an upgrade. As far as I know, if you have a free expansion slot on your board, a riser card and new graphics stuff will work. As for the processor, I would need a specific model and make. Happy hunting.

Well this depends on what you budget for a good laptop is. The one I got is really expensive and took me months of saving up, but it runs beautifully. Give me a price range and maybe I can find you something~

I assume you need something portable, hence asking for a laptop over just asking about desktop parts... so here's my two cents on laptops, having worked on and played on many in my time.
watch out with the omen. as it's an HP product, it will likely have cooling as shitty as their previous models had. HP is notorious for bad cooling. however, i haven't played with one of them yet, so i can't tell you the specifics of that line of laptops.
if you're willing to shell out, look into asus, origin, msi, auros, acer 's predator line, (some) alienware machines (others aren't very good price:performance ratio), sager, eurocom, lenovo, gigabyte (who also owns auros). I've heard digital storm is lowering their prices in the last couple years or so, but i haven't kept up with them much as they've never put out a unique laptop tbh.
I own an Origin laptop, and since they use desktop grade CPUs and MxM graphics, they're easily upgraded and have tons of storage slots for expansion. tbh though, i only own this laptop because my old one's screen snapped off and i got lucky with some money coming my way.
for someone who has both a desktop and a laptop (i need both for what i do) geared at high end specs, it's served me very, very well thus far.
watch out for razer, cyberpowerPC, and ibuypower. i know razer is a reputable brand for stuff like this, and well liked by about half the pc gaming community, but they charge way too much for the brand name. they're the new alienware it would seem.

Depends on your price range and your interest in cutting-edge stuff like VR.

If there's a desire to play VR on it, unless you're willing to shell out a couple grand on a custom built laptop, it's generally going to require an actual desktop computer to get the processing power necessary to play VR.

there are some models that cap off around 1.5k that have full gtx980s in them and 1060s that do just fine for vr. it's not optimal, but it works.
not that i imagine the average person wants a gaming machine for vr, as the peripherals are themselves pretty pricey

Thanks for all your responses guys. I think for now I'll check out Bullet's recommendations and come to a decision there.

Nah, my boyfriend picked one up for like $1.5k that was marketed as "VR ready" and it's nice to be able to take it around and more easily show off the Vive to people who want to try it.

Tekken isn't on SNES.

Also I feel like you're trying to make some sort of backhanded insult at PC gamers with that comment. But FYI, even the original Super Mario Bros. ran at 60 FPS. It's inexcusable for ANY game to be running at 30 FPS (or less). Modern consoles are a joke.

Oh, that doesn't count! lol
That's an unlicensed game. Not official.
