DDLC: Monika KNOWS
For new years, I decided to download the "Monika After Story" mod for Doki Doki Literature club, that lets you have more time to date Monika. It was kind of a fun way to ring in the new year. However, I've been coming back to it now and then when I feel bored/lonely, and I just had a very...interesting...bit of dialogue.

It seems like Monika might actually quite be a bit like people envisioned her.

She knows she's in a game already, wouldn't it make sense for her to know how she's lewded?

"Well anon, I see you frequent a hypnosis site... Want me to try?"

i thank you, for i enjoy the feeling of hating those deserving

Monika should be pitied, not hated. I say this as someone who absolutely hates what she did.

She caused 2-3 deaths and the breaking of a world, as well as scaring the shit out of the person she wishes to love her.

Therefore Yuri best girl.

Aaaand? She also undid all the damage she did, revealing that she kept backups of everyone, wrote herself out of reality because she realized all she did was cause suffering and pain, and in the bad ending forces herself back into existence to prevent Sayori from going insane like she did.

So despite everything she did, she doesn't deserve unbridled hatred. Pity and contempt. Not hatred.

Gametheory found some passages in the files though that seem to indicate that Monika is the main character of a game that hasn't been made yet, and Yuri is the actually evil one. Though, until that potential future game actually comes out that isn't confirm-able.

Game theory can be pretty shotty sometimes.
But hey, sometimes the villain is still the best, right?

I just want Yuri to steal my pens and absorb my skin oil.

It's either a really obscure ARG, or a hint at a future game unrelated to DDLC. I'm leaning toward the latter.

Also, keep in mind this is the same guy who said Ness and Sans were the same person, and then made a Sad VideoTM with Sad MusicTM defending himself by saying he wasn't ACTUALLY saying they were the same person, just proposing a possibility, and that people should stop being mean to him by saying he was wrong, when he couldn't possibly be wrong because he wasn't making a definitive claim.

In other words, he makes shit up and then gets manipulative when people start calling him out.

Theorizing is, as the name implies, theoretical. So, you shouldn't take any theory as fact; only the word of the author is canon. Still, he doesn't just make up evidence whole cloth, so when he finds a piece of evidence such as a hidden chunk of text, you can at least believe that the chunk of text exists, even if you disagree with his conclusions about it.

It's difficult to tell how responsible Monika is for her actions as Class President, because of the characters who get the role like Sayori shows (twice) and Monika, the role drives the Doki's completely insane. Monika is Monika, and Sayori either ends the world immediately upon the opening scene if you've deleted Monika, or she goes full Monika anyway in Act 4.

So better to hate what the Class President will always do, as it's the cursed role, rather than the character who has it.

Monika mentioning hypnosis out of the blue gave me the most pleasant heart attack though...

YA SEE that's where I take issue. It might be super petty of me, but that isn't what theorizing even fuckin is. I absolutely DESPISE the casual use of the word theory.

A Theory is ABOVE Facts. If something is "theoretical" it means that while it might not be shown true yet, literally all of the Facts are telling us it is.

I hate Game Theory for many reasons, but that's just one of them.

Game Theory is pretty much wrong on all counts.

Firstly, the text file hidden with Monika.chr makes a lot more sense if read as a message from "Protagonist-kun", and it can actually be interpreted as a direct set of instructions on how to get the game's true ending if read as such.

Secondly, Matpat conveniently ignores the length of the redacted name for declaring it Yuri, despite a part of his theory involving taking redacted names as at the length that they are earlier. The only names that fit the length that we know in relation to the game are Sayori, Monika, and Elyssa. Natsuki is too long, and Yuri is too short for them to fit.

Third, Matpat also ignores the section of the Libitina document on "Pain Tolerance", in which XXXXXX scores a mere 3 out of 10, something we can assume is not true of Yuri with her history of cutting. Not to mention a score of 22 out of (a presumed) 100 for emotional control, when Yuri is generally very in control of her emotions.

Fourth is that none of the traits attributed to the person he claims Yuri to be are exhibited by her under normal circumstances. She only shows those traits when her mind has been altered by Monika. When not influenced by an outside force, each of the girls shows some matching traits, but not a perfect match from any. Of all of them, though Natsuki's behaviour actually comes the closest to matching.

Finally, though, is something that Protag-kun says. When reading the book "The Portrait of Markov" with Yuri, he points out that she shares many traits in common with the protagonist of that story, the sister who comes to the camp as an outsider. If the book represents another game, that would mean that Dan is hinting at Yuri being the main character, not the other character that Matpat attributes to her.

But that's just a theory, a probably more well thought out and researched theory
thanks for reading.

That is, frankly, pedantic as hell.

Theory
noun, plural theories.
1.
a coherent group of tested general propositions, commonly regarded as correct, that can be used as principles of explanation and prediction for a class of phenomena:
Einstein's theory of relativity.
Synonyms: principle, law, doctrine.
2.
a proposed explanation whose status is still conjectural and subject to experimentation, in contrast to well-established propositions that are regarded as reporting matters of actual fact.
Synonyms: idea, notion hypothesis, postulate.
Antonyms: practice, verification, corroboration, substantiation.
3.
Mathematics. a body of principles, theorems, or the like, belonging to one subject:
number theory.

4.
the branch of a science or art that deals with its principles or methods, as distinguished from its practice:
music theory.
5.
a particular conception or view of something to be done or of the method of doing it; a system of rules or principles:
conflicting theories of how children best learn to read.
6.
contemplation or speculation:
the theory that there is life on other planets.
7.
guess or conjecture:
My theory is that he never stops to think words have consequences.
Idioms
8.
in theory, ideally; hypothetically:
In theory, mapping the human genome may lead to thousands of cures.

The word Theory has more than one definition, and "This is the best possible answer given all the facts we have available" is only ONE of those definition. It is very clear by his tagline "But hey, that's just a theory, a GAME THEORY" he is using Theory in it's usage in line more with definitions 2, 6, and 7.

You can not just decide to ignore one appropriate definition of a word in favor of a different definition that fails to fit into context so that you can then complain that the word is being used improperly.
