Would manipulating someone who has amnesia be considered mind control?
So a while back I came across this doujin where a girl gets hit in the head with a soccer ball and gets amnesia. Fat guy who has a crush on her takes her to the clinic and tells her that he's her boyfriend even though she already has a boyfriend, fun stuff. It made me pretty angry because there wasn't any actual hypno, but it's pretty interesting to think about what actually constitutes mind control.

Filling someone's head with fake thoughts, maybe even inducing amnesia then doing it. As a hypno fetishist, do you think you could fap to it?

I could fap to it but I wouldn't consider it hypnosis, mind control or even mind manipulation as the dude is just lying.

I suppose it's a matter of opinion, but to me the whole amnesia story sounds more like manipulation than hypnosis / mind control. I guess because to me hypno/mc has the chance of resistance instead of the chance of finding out that it's lies.

Depends on how maliciously the story is presented, but I guess I could fap to it? *shrugs*

Well the thing I forgot to mention is that the doujin actually is tagged as mind control across many different sites

I don't know what the other mods think but me personally i don't consider it mind control cause you aren't forcing her to get amnesia through a means that directly effects the mind no she just happened to get a blunt injury and the guy is just going with it.
He didn't say "use some sort of machine to take her memories away" nor did he "use some sort of magic spell", hell he didn't even wave a coin in front of her face and told her to forget, all he did was take advantage of a rare situation that occurred.

We have a picture of a girl hitting her head into anmesia and a guy telling her he's her boyfriend on the hub already.

There we go.
So do we flag this or?

Personally, I think it only counts as mind control if the amnesia is inflicted in some deliberate way. Like, an injury based amnesia *might* count as mind control if the injury was inflicted to cause cartoon-logic amnesia. It also doesn't need to be done by the "dom", such as if a person picks up an alien artifact that wipes their memories and someone decides to take advantage of the situation, that would be mind control.

But if it was a case of completely normal amnesia, caused by a normal disorder or injury, and someone completely unrelated to the incident tries to con them while vulnerable, the person is no more a "mind controller" than scammers who target the elderly are.

Meh, if just plain mind break is already allowed on the site then what is even the point. I wasn't even trying to argue for their removal anyway.

I suppose if we're really pulling hairs, manipulating amnesia could TECHNICALLY be mind control, but it doesn't really feel like it. I also have to wonder if anyone has tried this in real life.

Something to consider about RL Amnesia: It takes many forms, and often targets specific connected types of memory, or the creation of new memories rather than just "everything" as is common in media. Not being able to remember might make you vulnerable to being tricked, because you lack certain relevant memories and may choose to rely on others while you are recovering, but it would not in most cases cause a heightened level of suggestibility beyond merely "Knowing you are injured and need to trust those around you for survival"

I read that one, yeah it was garbage in a general sense

Let's say we take that as mind control. Now then, what does that make taking advantage of someone while they're drunk (as in through coercion/seduction, not the more forceful methods)? Would there be a notable difference?

Well alcohol does make someone more suggestible, in a sense. Haha. Also, alcohol is a drug, and havimg someone ingest drugs then taking advantage of them could maybe be similar to mind control? But by then it's so far removed from the characteristics that we like in hypno scenarios that if it were to classify as mind control, then it's some pretty boring mind control
