About the manip signature rule change
Can I Ask the reason of that rule?

On my manips I write my nick and the original artist one in order to mention who wrote the manip and who is the original image.

So... if someone saves one of my pictures they will know about the original artist and the writter. So... I am not allowed to write about who wrote the story or who is the original image?

I was doing that to respect the original source and organize the pictures. If you don't want me to do that, I'll understand, but I'd like to know the reason.

Kinda the same question : does it concern signatures ON the picture, or in the tags?

I mean, if someone manips a pic, can they put their name as a manipper in the tags, if they give the source and the original artist in the tags?

I have that problem because I've saved on my PC a lot of manips of other artists that sometimes I tend to forget the manniper or the original artist's name when I'm trying to find it.

So... I know that kind of stuff can happen.

I don't feel that put a tag on the hub is enough because of that.

...Oh wow. That's an interesting development.
Maybe they refer to... I don't know, watermarks and whatnot?

Maybe they are referring to watermarks, but the post was not specific about that, so I want to know what this is about.

What the hell is this rule for? It really feels like a prelude to banning all manips entirely under the guise of "art theft" (ignoring the art theft that almost every artist on this site does).

My presumption is that they want to give better credit to the original artist. Signing a manip can easily lead someone to miscredit the manipper and there's enough issues with misattribution on the internet as it is. Not every goddamn rule is Censorship.

The rule applies to signatures on the image itself. It misleads people and makes it look like you're taking credit for art you didn't draw.

^This.
The vast majority of manips will remain up, so most of you guys don’t have to worry.
For manips being deleted, they’re allowed to be reuploaded, but they need to have the signature removed from the image.

Nobody here is accussing manippers of art theft. We’re trying to avoid anyone from outside the side doing that. There’s really no reason for anyone to take an image they manipped and then add their name onto it. Even if the signature or watermark is for the text written on the side, it still can look like the manipper’s taking ownership over an image they did not make.

Edit: Some of the manips from vvrayven and deathwish are examples of what we’re talking about.

I want to talk about it...

What about this picture? Is this picture safe?

hypnohub.net/post/show/73...omless-elaine_-pokemon_le

This says "Manip:IDPET" on a textbox.

or this:
hypnohub.net/post/show/73...air-bottomless-collar-con

"Manip: IDPET
Original Artist:"

Also, my old manips are just saying IDPET, I hope they don't be deleted just because I put my nickname there.

hypnohub.net/post/show/68...empty_eyes-expressionless

Damn... If none of them are safe I think the 90% of my manips will be deleted and I will have to reupload EVERYONE just because I wrote the name >_>

To show that they wrote the text? Or is writing second-class compared to drawing now?

Even if the signature or watermark is for the text written on the side, it still can look like the manipper’s taking ownership over an image they did not make.

So even something like arashifrgn's signature explicitly only crediting them for the text would fall afoul of this?

Just to be clear I am a mod and a writer and I'm in favor of this.

No matter how much work you put into making a story the artist should be the only one to get the credit for the actual art.

A tag for the manipper is enough, slapping your name onto it is very distasteful and misleading.

There are several artist who might not like that and could end up going DNP which would be very bad as this site is for images first and foremost.

So while manippers are welcome the focus of this site is more about artist.

For writers there are half a dozen sites to use.

I still need an answer. 90% of my manips will be deleted? There are A LOT >_>

Also, is wrong to write your name if you also write the name of the original artist?
