itch.io Mind Control game jam (starts January 6th)
Good day, fine hypno-folks !

Having been on itch.io (an indie game website hosting an number of game jams) for a while, I decided, along with a friend of mine, to create a game jam centered around mind control !

I figured I'd share the news here ! In case anyone around is into game making, it'd be awesome to see submissions from hypno-enthusiasts, especially since NSFW content is allowed.

Here's the link, so go wild !

Man I'm really tempted to do this but the timing couldn't have been worse. ;_; I got a Uni exam on the 9th so I'll be too focused on that to really get anything done. If you plan on doing another one in the future then I'll definately be up for it.

Yes ! A jam is an event in which people make games around a theme following certain rules. It's different from a contest in that it doesn't have to be ranked, for instance this one is not.

Yes ! You don't have to start development when the jam starts, you can submit previously made projects. I'll go add that to the "can" section.

Oh nice, the game needs requisites? (my game is free).

I need to make a post on the Community tab right? How is the format to share the game?

This is the game: hypnohub.net/forum/show/69588

I'm using some copyright music, but I can change them in order to use fair use music, just let me know.

I've participated in them before, but they're usually, like, a week. Two months seems against the spirit of the concept, which I think is generally just devs quickly putting out ideas they have for everyone to see and learn from and incorporate into their own full projects. And there's usually less focus on refinement and presentation because everyone who develops stuff knows that a few days or a week isn't enough time for all that. Two months is just a lot of time for refinement for something like that, and combined with it being a fetish thing, kinda just seems like fishing for content.

The only requisite is to be free. However the copyrighted music seems to be disallowed by the site, so switch to fair use, just in case.

I think you can submit the game via Mediafire. Hypnohub itself is probably not an accepted source, as nothing prevents minors from clicking links on this site. For this same reason, please make sure to clearly state that the game is NSFW if that's the case (I'll probably add that to the "Must" section, too).

When you do post it, you will have a description field where you can copy/paste the description from the forum post.

You also don't have to post to "Community" to submit your game, that section is just a forum to discuss, ask questions, or suchlike.

Having lurked around that site with said friend for a bit, jams vary from weeks to months of length (I've even seen an exceptional two years). The site doesn't set any clear limits, it doesn't encourage or discourage lengthy jams. Their objective can indeed be quick shots, or finishing pre-existing projects, or simply expressing creativity.

The main goal of making this one two month long was to allow people to join over a large window of time, if they happened to find it. The "can" section does clearly specify that refinement is not a criteria, as demos and short games are not excluded.

As for the fetish aspect, I do realize that people would think this way as I posted to the Hub, but it's also open to any SFW or humorous content. We didn't think we would already have two participants by the next day ! Anyone can be in, no matter if they fetishize the content or not.
