Planning on doing paid products.
Dont really know how to call them other than that, paid products.

So a friend of mine has been doing this for some time and it doesnt really look like a bad idea to try out, but I want to get an idea of what'd you guys think.

Alright so lets say I do a 5 page comic of 2 characters being hypnotized, and doing different things while tranced, publish some preview images so that everyone sees what they can expect, and place the rest behind a paywall.

Now I know commissions are expensive and that not many people can afford them. Or that you simple like another artist's style more. But lets say that paid comic had the usual quality I give to all the commissions I do, and that it cost 10€ - 11,30$ to get the 5 pages. Would you buy it? Here's a link to a strawpoll, please vote on it:

Feel free to comment here anything you'd like to add or ask since polls are rather limiting.

I just wanted to know 'cause I usually come up with insane ideas for comics or other projects, but I end up not doing them for how hard/time consuming they are and just stick to normal pics like I've been doing so far, and think this would be a good idea to motivate me. What do you guys think?

Also sorry if there's already a thread for this, dont really use the forum that much.

Couple of questions if I may since I'm not sure how it would work:

I assume that if we pay for it we get access to the comic we commissioned?

If you commission a comic, does the funds you give only grant you access to that comic, or would it cover the cost to look at others as well? Mainly asking this for the sake of perceived value.

And finally, if we wanted to post the comic after commissioning it, would that be allowed, negotiable to do, or would it be strictly behind the wall?

Either way, consider me interested, The price is nice for me and a whole comic sounds good.

What Im offering are not commissions, Commissions are its own thing.

When you make a commission, you're asking the artist to draw something original for you. In this case you'd be paying to see something that's already been drawn by that artist. And it would ONLY give you access to a specific comic and all its pages, not to an entire gallery of differently themed comics. Every comic or set of images would have its corresponding price.

Since its paywalled, I'd rather you dont post it anywhere, that'd just stop people from buying it since they have it for free thanks to you. That is however, for paywalled comics/image sets. If you do Commission me, you can do whatever you want with it, since it was a commission.

That being said, since you seem to have mixed up the concepts. Commissions are way higher on the prices than this. A paywalled, pre-drawn comic would be cheaper because you can't choose anything, you're only paying to see it.

I see. Thanks for answering the questions, I appreciate it.

Still, it seems like a decent idea to get you motivated and therefore could work. I'd say go for it, odds are people will like the idea.

If you need the funds it's not a bad idea. And while I'm sure there are people who would pay the 30$ to view. But 30$ per comic is expensive especially for 5 pages, and might lead to things like what happened to Jimryu back in the day. Where people paid and then just shared privately.

Just my thoughts though, either way I ain't gonna be able to afford it, lol.

It says 10€ or its direct translation to dollars, 11'30$. Its not 30$ Im not that good.

I appreciate the advice though and will restrain from applying prices that might look unfair for what the product includes.

I'm not a fan of paywalls for obvious reasons, but if you need the money, you need the money.

Speaking personally, the most I'd pay to view a 5 page comic is around 5-7 usd.
