I see a decent amount of pessimism towards the starters, and the region already. Personally I'm interested in what I see, and really hope people can look passed some of the flaws the games have. Over world encounters and following Pokemon for example. I have a feeling that Let's Go! is going to have its own line now. Going through all of the regions. They'll probably keep those 2 features for that game as a main selling point. As much as I may not enjoy that; I can easily see it.
Then I see a huge amount of people already complaining that the game is gonna be "super linear" or "hand holdy" when we only really saw 1 trainer. The map has a huge amount of split routes, and even more places to explore from what I can tell. Even if there is a hard story I'm thinking we may finally see a return to roots with at least a decent level of freedom being given to us.
The starters themselves though...I've said this a few times, but they have me interested.
Design specifically I've got:
Scorbunny (Meh)
Grookey (Ok)
Sobble (BEST; PROTECT THIS BAB)
Stat wise I think we may just see some interesting starters again, but I'm holding my breath that they don't
drop the ball.
Typings are something I've said a few times in other places, but I'm really hoping we'll finally see some competitive typings for the trio.
Grass/Fairy (Or Ice)
Fire/Steel
Water/Dragon
Why? Because simply put; the Grass monkey's info so far sets it up as some mischievous little shit with boundless curiosity. Which says to me Fairy Type, but at the same time there's a large ice area so there's bound to be some more Ice type love/balance. Maybe actually buffing hail so sandstorm isn't flat out better; that free +50% sp. def to rock types always makes me want something for Ice types. (I hope)
Fire/Steel makes sense for the steam punk like aesthetic around the region. It says it's bursting with energy, and loves to run around. So I'm thinking they'll run with that. Maybe go for a steampunk lopunny where instead of it going super strong fighting route it prefers speed. Using metal engines or something to boost around with. Kinda like iida from my hero aca
Water/Dragon is just something I've been craving for a long time now. I don't hate Kingdra, but another Pokemon with it other than Palkia is very welcome in my book. (More Dragon types in general actually.) It's always being timid all the time which reminds me of Dratini or Goomy. Where it's always found deep in secluded areas or tries to run when encountered. That camouflage would help a huge amount with that. That Ice area to the north comes back to my mind again since without Water typing Sobble would be pure dragon, and definitely scared of the abundance of Ice types in the region. Though; to be honest it makes even more sense with him hiding with Freeze-Dry being a thing
