Subverse: Mass Effect-esque Hentai Game Funds Over A Million On Kickstarter
Wanted to point this out for anyone who hadn't heard of it.

www.kickstarter.com/projects/990500595/subverse

FOW Interactive is making a hentai visual novel/RPG drawing heavy influence from XCOM and Mass Effect and with fully animated sex scenes in the unreal engine. As of this post they've raised just under 2 million dollars.

All goals are met, it looks pretty fun, so if you've got some extra money feel free to grab a piece of it.

The recipient of no awards what so ever...

"Problematic"
"A New Low For Humanity"
"More Shovelware"
"Absolutely Disgusting"
"Not These Guys Again"
"Can You Turn My Wife Into A 3D Model? I'll Pay."

...Well, it's nice to know these guys aren't taking themselves or their products too seriously.

I feel like you kind of need that attitude if you're making that kind of game. It's appreciated nonetheless, at least by you and me.

It's always nice to see a kickstarter game get 15x it's target in funding. Thanks for the heads-up Vinegrape. Any word on release date?

It doesn't matter how much they made or make, what matters is if they ever finish, and what the results are if they do. There have been similarly large-funded games where mismanagement ended up with the money wasted.

In this case I was thinking of the matter of 'Towns'.

Which wasn't as big, but at the same time was a perfect example.

I've only supported a single Kickstarter and did so because of their past track-record being solid. They put out another one in an attempt to try creating a big new expansion, and ended up raising over $1 million. Flash forward to several years later, and they're attempting to dig themselves out of debt and still haven't delivered. While it's good that they havent gone completely radio silent, I'm so disappointed in how this shit was mismanaged. This is exactly why I hate supporting Kickstarters. Rather just buy a finished product once it's out.

On a more positive note, Outbreak Games will have their new prequel game, Kissing Therapy: Proper Counseling, released in the next day or so. Was delayed a bit due to technical issues, though I can totally forgive them for that. I'm just excited to get my hands on a new hypno game with yuri. We really don't get enough of those imo.

Only think I kickstarted came out with no problem and I got my reward in a timely manner.

I would back this but I'll just buy it when it's out

It's worth noting that Subverse is supposedly built off of a test for the games engine that performed well. This means that the engine is relatively stable which already puts it ahead of Mighty no. 9. FOW has also already put a lot of time an probably some money into getting the current characters designed. With FOW's track record and the names working on the team being known for other ventures I think it's at least safe to say that they are not planning on cutting and running with the money, which I think is the biggest fear surrounding this type of KickStarter.

Ok. I didn't know anything about this before, but after seeing the Kickstarter and Steam store pages, I want this. The level of not taking it serious is amazing. I especially love the last picture on the Steam page with the comment "Strategic Lens Flares kindly provided by Sony". Definitely adding it to my wishlist and I'll keep an eye on this one. Thanks a bunch vinegrape for bringing it to our attention.

That's a lot of money. Maybe I should start that UE4 powered Virtual Hypno-tan 2 project I was thinking of...

Looking though my KS I'm about %70 on things I've backed getting delivered (100% delivery on kickstarter projects I've developed for tho!). Lot more sceptical about backing stuff these days.

These guys seem to avoided a lot of the common pitfalls. Avoiding merch, not too much feature creep in the stretch goals. But the 3 different genres thing is really ambitious and makes me wonder if it'll end up as the porn version of Star Citizen. They also don't seem to have a dedicated writer which is a worry for a game with a fair few story sequences

So. Sceptical but hoping they pull it off!
