Etika is dead.
I am sorry for being the bearer of bad news.

But as you can tell by the name of this topic, Desmond Amofah, better known as Etika, has been found dead.

An important thing to keep in mind, if anyone reading this has any issues with mental health or emotional need of any kind, your life is valuable.

There is someone who cares about you, so use the links in the post below.

I read about it a little bit, it's a really sad story. I watched Etika a little bit as he collaborated with Achievement Hunter, a channel I watch, and he was a really cool dude.

Mental illness is always such a tragedy.

Now he can react to Nintendo Switch and JoJo in peace, I hope his friends and family are able to keep their heads above the water.

I just know this guy with his reaction, this is real? Because so many people say this kind of things and i don't believe it.

Theres a bunch of news sites reporting on both is disappearance a week ago, and his body being found in a river today. Sadly its true.

I haven't kept up with Etika in a very long time and I only heard bits and pieces of him acting very strange the past couple of months. Unfortunately many people including myself just shrugged it off as edgy antics for attention which now from this outcome breaks my heart and just makes me sad that I wrote off his cries for help as some kind of vapid scheme. Even now I see people saying just horrible things on social media and making a joke out of his death. I can see what he meant in his final video about those platforms being destructive.

Rest in peace Desmond.

Who? |=(:S

Do I have to be concerned that I didn't even know that the person exist?

One of the things that makes this even worse for me is that so much of his content appears to have been lost forever after he deleted it all from his channel a while back. His fire emblem videos are all but completely gone, for one. It hurts even worse knowing someone's gone when so many of the memories are too.

He's a Youtuber, relatively/marginally famous (as I understand it, he had something like 600K-800K subs when shit started to go wrong). Basically the gist of it is that he'd been struggling with mental illness for a long time, he had a few breakdowns (he posted a bunch of porn at one point on his Youtube channel and it got deleted), he expressed suicidal thoughts but ended up pushing his close ones away (though it's also not clear how seriously the institutions took his illness). Then, about two weeks ago, he disappeared entirely. The cops found some of his belongings, and then finally a body they confirmed to be his, in one of NYC's waterways.

You don't have to be concerned that you didn't know him, of course ; I don't know a lot of Youtubers. But this story did make a few mainstream newspapers, and a lot of people are talking about it on the Internet.
