To what extent is the "characters representing real people" rule enforced?
What's the limit? Are historical figures not allowed? Is there a cutoff date for the time period that a character could be taken from?

I was reading the rule today and thought nothing of it. I know that you obviously shouldn't post hypno porn of angela merkele getting bimbofied or whatever, but then I thought about all the Fate characters floating around in the hub and got curious.

Well the Fate chracthers are pretty much just their own thing with only a very tenuous, strained relation to anyone real so they hardly count

So could I say, commission a picture of Napoleon Bonaparte as an anime girl getting hypnotized and post it here?

Come to think of it, how about fictional characters associated with real life people, such as Hermione Granger or Princess Leia?

I'm not a mod, of course, so don't quote me on this, but as there's already a number of Hermione pics that are obviously based on Emma Watson's version of the character, I think it's probably allowed as long as it's clear that it's about the character Hermione, as portrayed by Emma Watson, and not Emma Watson the actress herself.

I'm old dammit, I just wanna swing on my porch and watch you kids trance each other in the fields. Not the official position of the staff here but when that rule was being created it was more to protect active, living folk whose likeness was being abused. It's not meant as a hard and fast catch-all net. Every pic is assessed on a case-by-case basis for possible abuse. As to Fate; I'm obsessed with the franchise and I can outright say none of those characters remotely resemble their real world counterparts enough to qualify for it.

So if I were to... theoretically make a TG manip involving depictions of cute anime girl versions of unscrupulous historical figures, I'm not gonna get banned, right?

If I remember, the decision was made for the sake of avoiding hurt feelings/drama related to going to a fetish site and finding drawings of yourself without your consent. Historical figures aren't around to find drawings of themselves on a fetish site, so I would imagine it would be okay?

@Changer Not exactly.

The rule was specifically made to remove a bunch of posts involving Jaiden Animations and other YouTube animators + personalities. Even though it was a depiction of her animated self, we took issue with some comments that were downright creepy and borderline predatory toward her.

We do not plan on enforcing the rule very strictly toward everything. Actors in films depicting a character and most historical figures aren't necessarily an issue. And in regards to real people on the Hub (such as Erika and Chisty), because they are a part of the community, it's not going to affect their posts. It only becomes an issue if a member of the Hub or community says that they did not wish to have their likeness posted here.

If there's ever something you would like to post yet are worried that it goes against this rule, DM a mod to see if it's an issue. Majority of the time, it shouldn't be.

Now I think about it, I find the intention poorly codified with "based on or representing real people".

Because angels and dwarfs are also based on real people.

For the sake of less ambiguity, I'd opt to reword it to "based on people currently alive"
