So I just went through all the images rated Safe...
I changed the rating on at least 7 pages' worth of content. Some of which was literally the exact opposite of SFW.

Look, I understand the occasional confusion between what's Questionable/Safe, or Explicit/Questionable - sometimes the borders can be a little blurry. But can we just all agree that Cream and Vanilla performing cunnilingus on each other, or the Spies performing fellatio on a person whose only visible body part is the penis, is pretty obviously explicit?

To say nothing about the few times where all I did was undo a revision someone did to mark works like that as SFW - leading me to believe that it cannot have been by mistake. I'd advocate for an outright rule against behaviour like that, but I choose to believe it's not necessary to make it that clear.

Sorry, I was just in the mood for some cute, not-necessarily-titillating art and caught 3 blatantly NSFW images in the first page of the rating:safe search. So I got a bee in my bonnet and checked all three hundred and twenty something pages of it - got it down to 317, and that was just the stuff I could tell by the thumbnail was blatantly NSFW.

Rant over, feel free to discuss. Or not. I assume this thread will be locked eventually.

To be fair, this sort of thing happens with tags and pools as well. Random users mess with them all the time. Best you can do is see who’s doing it and figure out it they frequently mess with ratings. If so, we can issue warnings, temp bans and even perma bans if it becomes too serious.

Edit:
tl;dr: dm us with links to the accounts or edit histories of users messing with the ratings, and we’ll look into it from there

Yeah this sort of thing is hard to keep up with, thanks for taking the time to look through it.

I've DM'ed a couple of users' edit histories to you personally - these were the ones that most likely were vandalism, as opposed to accidents.

I don't even understand why someone would do that on purpose though? It's so weird.

Why do people troll, in general? It is weird, but then again the Greater Internet F***wad Theorem proves itself true time and time again - normal person, plus anonymity, plus relative absence of consequence, equals Total F***wad.
