Struggling to go into trance with audio files
Hi, I've only recently found out about this place and I'm loving it so far.
I've been into hypnosis for a few years now and I have listened to ton of audio files, but I still can't go into trance. I get a bit light-headed and I feel really relaxed but that's it. Triggers also don't seem to work afterwards and this is starting to upset and demotivating me.
Does anyone else have/had this problem?
And how do you fix it?

Have you ever had a live partner try to put you under?

some folks can't go under to premade stuff

Check out the hypnosis and erotichypnosis subreddits. There's usually a few individuals willing to help in terms of advice. If you want to try an actual human instead of a recorded file, try the hypnohookup subreddit.

I've tried a few live sessions but they didn't really work either, mostly because I'm a bit self conscious about my voice and face so I tend to get a bit nervous and not being able to relax >_< (and even if I didn't I can't really do live sessions right now because I'm stuck in my house with my family and they'd hear)

Thanks, I'll check those out!

Do you use visual aids, like spirals or hypnotic patterns? Binaural beats might help you as well. Try them in conjunction with your audio files. I can never go under with just audio, which is actually a blessing.

One time, I used to work at an English teaching center run by a creepy hypnotist. This guy had binaurals hidden in relaxing music and found myself being distracted by it. Though, I was never entranced. The creep also used Erickson-style hypnosis as he spoke. Only was there for a week. I learned some Ericksonian techniques from watching him though.

Ericksonian techniques make my speeches better and more convincing when addressing large groups of people for good causes.

Also a note about binaurals: Aim for Theta waves which are generally a difference of 4-8 Hz for best effects. Binaurals are created when you have a difference of frequency in your left and right ears, so for example 99 Hz (L) and 91 Hz (R).

Delta waves are more for inducing sleep rather than a deep state of meditation.

I played with them a bit and found myself inducing myself by accident a couple times when combining it with a spiral. It is really easy to make, took me about an hour to create a 30 minute spiral and binaural (with no words).

I've been having very similar issues for many years. A lot of the advice I found was "just keep trying it" and that yielded some success, but to my surprise, I actually found the most success was in reading text inductions.

When I'm listening to an audio induction, I find it very easy for my mind to wander, but when I'm focusing on reading some text, then it's much easier to keep your attention focused on the words. Maybe you could try a few text inductions instead and see if the results are similar to mine?
