Just a question.
My McAffee says that the site is risky now, so I can't get into the posts. is there any chance it could go back to the way it was before?

I don't know exactly how mcaffee works but it should have an option where you prevent it from scanning hypnohub for problems.

yeah, I get that but see, I'd prefer not to catch a virus from looking at posts, so I'm asking if there's any chance the thing that made it risky could go back to normal.

I'd ignore it. The site barely runs one ad (which slips past my adblock somehow), and it isn't a malicious ad, so i don't mind it. I don't see how it could be infected.

I'd ditch McAfee immediately. Try AVG, it has a free version and is much more lightweight and far less obtrusive.

McAfee is hilariously bad.

i feel like security software are basically trojans in a sense, like how mackeeper is the #1 pop up i always see. i don't use any anti-spam i just click out of it, works well enough. that is the advantage of using a mac though, i suppose.

Anti-viruses are basicky viruses that only target other viruses. That's why if you have two anti-viruses running on one computer they go to war with each other as they see each other as a virus.

Though the most virus's like anti-virus is Nortan.

They go after each other because they both detect the virus definitions of the other as a virus xD
And after you deinstalled an AntiVirus you should always use the fitting 'complete removal program' (in McAfee case: "McAfee Consumer Product Remover") as the normal uninstaller often leaves some files!

it also said malicious downloads, so (and this is all hypothetical) worst case scenario what would that be on this site?

kind of reminds me of al gore from south park. in the sense that it warns people of non-existant threats.

Images. Lots of Images
I have McAfee too - came preinstalled on my laptop and I just haven't bothere to remove it. It causes me no problems, so... why would I? //shrugs

Anyway!

There are lots and lots of images.
The virus warning/whatever could be because of how the pages are created. If I recall correctly, Vann once told me that they are dynamic in the sense of how there are no actual offical Pages for the posts. They are all just created on the fly, or something. I can't remember, but I wasn't paying much attention at the time XD

So, if I'm right on that, it could be something related to that.

The pages are actually created by calling a bunch of separate functions to slap a temporary page together on the fly, yes. This is done so that you don't need yet another .html page for each forum post, user profile, image post, etc.

It's not impossible for it to be causing false positives with antivirus software, but it's pretty standard practice for gallery sites. Gelbooru works similarly, for example. I'd imagine deviantart does, too. So, all in all, it's not entirely likely, but not out of the question.

More than likely it's just an ad or script on our site somewhere being seen as a problem for whatever reason.

so if I got this straight, even if there was something wrong with the site, I could still favorite pics and be ok?
