I Ran The Kaa and Shanti Encounter Through DainAPP and this is what came out.
So for those who don't know, DainAPP is a program that uses advanced algorithms to extrapolate 30 FPS videos up to 60 FPS. I put the Shanti and Kaa encounter through it and it popped out pretty smooth.

What do you guys think? Is it worth doing any other scenes?

I think it came out rather well. As for what else, I mean...

Just about any classic Disney scene would do just perfectly. I mean, the mere THOUGHT of 60fps Circle of Life or Friend Like Me is making me nut

Can't think of any hypnosis-related ones off the top of my head, but a lot of the fight scenes from Avatar: The Last Airbender would be good candidates.

The AI's attempt to smooth out Shanti's Kaa eyes kinda highlights the animators' flub-ups on that part. Still, not bad.

As for other scenes... I mean, there's always the 2 encounters from the original movie. Kinda hard to find hypno scenes that would work well for this, since those kinds of scenes don't usually have a ton of movement.

runnig hand-drawn animation through these sorts of programs is almost universally a bad idea

Care to elaborate? The results look fine here.

Are you considering doing the Mowgli ones? I think the first one would look particularly amazing.

Yeah, I wanna do the Mowgli ones, just a matter of finding time. Sorry to go radio silent.

Apps like these add frames "blindly." The timing of a pause or wind-up before a motion is a very precise thing. With these things, objects will start to move in the direction of upcoming motion rather than truly holding in the wind-up. Sudden things become less sudden, and it leads to motions being less dramatic. (These things are most obvious when characters are moving around a lot, but it even applies to simple expression changes.) It's smoother, and it's not like it's unwatchable, but personally I notice the detrimental effects.

Did you ever get a chance to work on them? Not trying to pressure, just curious to see what it'd look like :P
