A place for stories?
So is there a section of the hub dedicated to stories instead of pictures? I've been getting into that sorta stuff lately.

hypnohub.net/forum/show/8027

Literally just looking at the bottom half of the first page of forum threads is all it would've taken for you to see the thread you're asking about.

You might also want to check out MCStories.Com which is where a massive number of written work gets posted every week.

Haven't heard of that, do you have a link?

Also curious about a link to that new site.
CHYOA.com and Writing.com are good places if you can put up with massive variance in quality. Both those sites also have branching story functions.

Do they accept fanfiction along with stories?

I don't think so, something about it being a far more bothersome legal mess.

*goes to check*

Yup I was right

"Fanfiction is not allowed at this time due to the complexity of laws linked to this. All works must be of original content and characters."

that may change later though, they do say "at this time" and it's a new site so perhaps they're working on it but just can't allow it yet.

Can someone explain that? Why is fanfiction considered legally complex? To my understanding, as long as you don't present it as your original property and don't try to make money off it, it was okay.

Because copyright holders are dicks, abuse their power, and have needed better legislation for years now, is the only real answer to this question in my opinion.

Not a lawyer myself, but... It's not, they just don't know that and are afraid. I mean, speaking from a US perspective, and the rest of the western world generally gets dragged along with US copyright law. The ruling on The Wind Done Gone basically settled that - that novel was even being sold, and it was still found that it fell within the doctrine of fair use. Maybe in the UK or whatever it's different, but if they host the website in the US, nothing's going to come of it. I mean, think about it. If what's being done *here* falls under fair use, what's being done there definitely would.

I'd be more concerned about them apparently having "no way of stopping" people from posting non-MC stories, though.

I mean, there's a whole site called www.fanfiction.net/
if that site wasn't attacked all those years, this is totally fine.

There's also <<archiveofourown.org/|Archive of Our Own>>, which is mostly dedicated to fanfiction but also features some original works.
