Thinking of getting a commission done, where to look?
Hey everyone, I'm considering getting a commission done and don't really know how to go about it. I'm not sure how to find an artist (other than the occasional commission sheet that gets posted here) and I don't know who's good to work with and who isn't.

So, anyone who's bought commissions for hypno stuff in the past, do you have anyone you'd recommend? And anyone who's an artist, what kind of rates do you charge?

I'm in neither of those categories, but isn't there a "commission" tag on this site?
(And if there isn't, why hasn't anyone thought of it yet?)

There is a tag for commission sheets (commission_sheet), although it's infrequently used.

I can throw down a couple. www.deviantart.com/katsii...-References-0-2-825726585
www.deviantart.com/sweetl...ommissions-OPEN-765432278

Of course you'll need a DA account to access them but it should be fine. Honestly an easy way to find people to commission is to simply look through art heee and search the source links to see if they're open. They'll usually have the sheet at the top of the page.

Thanks! I had hoped there would be a more straightforward way to do it, but I guess I’ll start looking around. I am curious to see if anyone has recommendations though, I don’t want to work with someone who’s rude or may try to rip me off.

Well, as someone who's commissioned quite a bit, and fairly expensive comics at that, I'd say the main starting point would just be looking at the artists you yourself enjoy. I have a list of artists I go through (including some that I note down in case I want to re-commission them), and I just ask them one after the other, basically, whenever I have a commission in mind.
Now obviously, this doesn't always work; it's easier if they have a commission sheet, like the tag people pointed out, and some artists are easier to contact than others, but I'd call it a starting point. You can also look at the "contributor commission list" <<hypnohub.net/forum/show/62583|here>> to get some more ideas (I don't know how up-to-date it is, though).

As for the commissioner's attitude, I can't say I personally ever met anyone really rude - most artists I've worked with, or attempted to, have been at the very least quite polite, if not always warm - and I can't say I've had cases where I got "ripped off". In cases where artists decide not to go through with a commission, I think the majority of artists will tell you they've changed their mind about doing the commission before letting you pay, and pretty much all of them will at least try to refund you if you've already paid for it.

In terms of recommendation for prices, I can't really be sure if what I'd suggest would be appropriate, since as I mentioned I've mostly commissioned stuff that I think is more expensive than what people usually do.
That said, off the top of my head, I would say the two cheapest artists I've worked with, by far, are Dlobo777 and PSaber. That last one is not on the Hub, so I'd need to give you their Discord contact if you want to get in touch.
Other artists I'd recommend, not necessarily for their prices alone, but for: a)the quality of their work, b)their niceness, or c)just a combination of all three factors, would be:
-Dina-M, absolutely adorable, fairly reasonable prices, and a great artist;
-Psi, super nice, and very talented (and, given the quality of his stuff, surprisingly not too expensive);
-Rotem Dishon, very consistently available to do commissions, including quite complex ones, and also still a great artist (though I will say, they're a little bit more expensive than the other two);
-Hypnolion, not only a good artist but also relatively cheap (although unfortunately they haven't been very available lately).

Those are the main ones that I'd suggest after working with a number of artists. There are others, of course, I'm just basing it off my own experiences
