Subforum Feature - It might happen! Maybe!
So, a few months ago, I suggested to the developer of the My Imouto Booru software that he consider adding a feature to create subforums for this forum here. While he hasn't shown any interest in it, a fellow user of github (the site the software project is hosted on), <<github.com/rupaheizu|rupaheizu>>, - after asking if I was still interested in the feature, which i was - offered to cook up the feature for us.

After testing it on a local install of the site to make sure it works, we'll almost definitely implement this once it's done. So, this begs the question: what kinds of subforums do we need?

Any suggestions? I know there was a request at some point for a roleplay subforum. Any other ideas? A written works subforum, maybe, that way those poor writers can have more than just a thread of their own? :P

Like the ideas of Roleplay and Writing subforums. Maybe an Artwork & Critique forum for posting works in progress and for artists to preview their work and ask for confirmation or tips on improvement. Also could add a Lost & Found forum for things we find but don't know if they're up to the code and requests for missing files that we're sure existed.

Maybe a place to talk about games that contain hypno as provide links. Could be paired up with video links

The Artwork & Critique forum could be a possibility. I'm not too sure about Lost & Found and Hypno-game subforums, though. Something to give thought to, in any case. If anyone has any more subforum ideas, do speak up!

As an aside, I don't want to overdo the subforums. It's a bad thing to be overspecific, because there's a good chance that people won't check subforums as often as the main forum, so it will only end up killing our forum activity if we do that. Of course, don't let that stop you from bringing up ideas! If you don't bring them up, we can't know if it's a good idea or not!

Good point.

One last idea for a subforum, Scripts/Inductions. A place for posting text and links intended to induce hypnosis and various hypnotic effects. I can see wanting to collect and store something like that for ease of access without disrupting the flow of the main forum.

i could imagine adding more subforums might actually increase the traffic, people might come just to socialize

As if people don't come on here to socialize. Although I would love a writer's block and artist alley up in here. Getting feedback is what makes the art stronger right? And we could have a news thing for all of those lovely news pics Vann and Mindwipe love to do. Or actually just write the updates. And we can have a Fossilbrand appreciation shrine. That would be nice.

yeah, it's true, but a real off topic forum is always a blast ime, and no two are exactly alike ^^

I felt like I had a few ideas but I either forgot them or they were already suggested. I'll post if I can think of some good ones.

A Stories subforum would be nice; as it is, the story thread is a poor way to share stories, which get lost in the pages that aren't at the ends of the thread. On top of that, most story discussion appears to be limited to the story which was posted last, so each story may as well be its own thread with its own discussion.

A story subforum with each story being its own thread and a general story discussion thread would be good.

I'm kind of tempted to say we shouldn't have subforums until such time as there are enough active threads within 7 days to not fit on the first page.
