New Site Questions/Discussion
Slayerduck said in forum #105822 to move questions/discussion about the new site/site migration to another thread, since that thread is meant just for reporting bugs. I'm starting this one for those questions, as well as discussion of the site move in general.

Will all uploads from now till the migration be on the new site?
As in, if I upload something now, will I have to reupload it on the new site?

I don't like that the wiki will be gone. Is it possible to implement it in the new site later on?

Or even have it outside the site, like our Discord chat is? I certainly found all the help/info pages in the wiki to be helpful when I first came to this site and was trying to figure out the rules and expectations. Rule34's help pages are rather sparse. If we get rid of the wiki, we may also need to change some tags to be more self-explanatory.

Well, I guess I'll repost the questions I had here, then:

-We won't have profile pictures, then?
-How do pools work exactly? I've gone to one of my own most recent uploaded pics that's part of a pool (<<devgel.hypnohub.net/index...&s=view&id=136969|this one>>), and I can't see the "pool" attribute or option anywhere. I can <<devgel.hypnohub.net/index...ol&s=show&id=4842|find it via the pool list>>, though (but I can't see any way to search that, either).
-Where blacklist?

Yes

Yes but i wouldn't count on it.

-No profile pics are planned but if the person who's converting the database decided to port over the avatar code it may be there.
-afaik you may not see it on the post itself if its a personal pool, there is a edit button for that.
- My acc > options

Got it. Thanks for the blacklist tip.

The pool thing seems a bit funky, gotta say. I switched it to "Private" instead of "Personal", and it works, but it'd be nice to have a way to switch directly from post to post.

There's also no way to search pools that I can see.

Finally, a couple bugs that I'll report on the other thread.

EDIT: concerning blacklists, is there a way to combine things? So on the current Hub, you can hide, say, any post containing "malesub" but also not containing "femsub" (by placing "malesub" and "-femsub" on a single line). On the new Hub, it seems it doesn't separate lines, so if I add malesub to the list it'll just hide all malesub posts, even if I don't necessarily want that (e.g. if there's a post with both femsub and malesub)?

Will the rules here apply because I saw a LOT of stuff that was deleted from here show up there.

Thanks for reporting, this is actually a bug and will be fixed before migration.

No it doesn't have that. The reason why is because gel 0.2 is fundamentally different in how the searching works. With myimouto it simply does everything on a standard SQL DB while on gel 0.2 we use a database specifically for searching. The way myimouto does it is extremely slow in comparison and its likely if the hub ever reached over 200-300K posts it would significantly slow down to the point of the server overloading.
This is also why searching in pool's doesn't exist, as pool's aren't added to the search database.

tbib.org/ runs on a server with 10 year old cpu's and it has nearly 10 mil posts with no front end caching of requests at all. This is a perfect example of how different the optimization between both programs is.

That's really weird as I'm pretty sure I can blacklist things on Gelbooru the same way that I do here. If that's the case, we're probably going to have to make some tag changes to cover things we otherwise might not.

SQL DBs aren't meant for searching? News to me. (In my experience, if you can't do complex queries on tens of millions of records, you probably fucked up your indexes.)

Is there a way to search or view posts by score? Here, it's "order:score", but that doesn't work on the new site.

Is there a deleted:true equivalent on the new engine? i couldn't find any

it's sort:score, it's like that on pretty much all sites but hypnohub

If the new site is using the Gelbooru search then deleted posts are completely omitted from search results (I think) but I think the new site is using the rule34 method so deleted posts aren't actually removed from search results but there is no way to separate them from regular posts in a search.

The way rule34 does it is kinda dumb tbh but I think the mods do a purge of the deleted posts every few months over there

Is there a more solid ETA as to when the migration happens so we can adjust our panicking accordingly?
