Why should it be less 'safe' than a link on a download site? Do you know what a P2P-software is?

From experience, it's no less unsafe than random sites with download links. Hell, it's probably safer nowadays. Back when I used it, there was absolutely zero moderation on who did what using P2P clients. Things like gigatribe, correct me if I'm wrong as I've never used it, I believe do moderate and ban or otherwise handle problem users that often spread fake files and viruses.
