May be up to taste but the 'twist' of him being like "Haha, that was just a little joke. Oh no, after I made you fit my exact desires perfectly, you perfectly match my exact desires! You are so manipulative, tempting me this way!" bugs me. It's not a good enough excuse to redeem him into seeming innocent, so instead of him being a confident, dominant jerk, or it being a joke that went horribly right, it sort of falls into a middle grounds that feels unsatisfying to me.
