Skullgirls Invitational Thread
Hello, everyone. I'm sure you know who I am, as it says to the left of this text. What you possibly don't know is that I am looking for some competition in Skullgirls, an indie fighting game with a unique art style and awesome characters. You can find me on the endless beta on Steam, under the moniker of Adun Toridas. I stand ready for the challenge, so bring your A game.

I would like to play Skullgirls with people, but I am also not willing to give up my Steam name on a lolicon hypnosis porn forum :P

We're not a lolicon hypnosis porn forum! We're a hypnosis porn forum that allows lolicon. :P

There's a distinction!

What LittleToyMaker said except for making the distinction Vanndril mentioned. I like Skullgirls though :D

There is a mail function, so you could just mail me your names, or you could use the one I provided in the original post.

I would like to point out that SkullGirls is quite an innovating fighting game, bit different from the usual street fighter, tekken and blazblue. It is the kind of game that is simple to play and hard to master :)

If nothing else, I think it is worth trying it out for the commands. They have been redesigned to make moves and controls come out way more easily. For example, remember these characters who need a full circle to activate a special attack ? In most fighting games, the character would jump before you end the circle, thus making it very difficult to land. Not there ! The game actually waits to see if you're executing a full circle and a special attack before making your character jump. SkullGirls is full of these little changes, some obvious, some less.

You've stated the reason why I left SFIV, and picked up this genre again. Also, the only characters that have 360 detection are Fukua and Cerebella, and for super moves, no less. It is an awesome game to watch or play, and rumor has it that a certain artist who is fond of tentacles actually made a flash about the game, with Filia's ACTUAL VOICE ACTOR chiming in to voice act the flash. The ataff care about the fans, and that is really amazing.

Riiiiiight .... Tell that to the judges when they put you on trial on some of the european countries for distribution of virtual child pornography. They had a professional translator jailed in sweden because he had lolicon pictures on his PC. He appealed and got his appeal denied - he was branded as a sex offender and had to pay a fine. (allthough, that could have been a lot worse). They ruled that Manga people are real people as well in court.

I've also heard (by someone far more political informed than I am) that there's a law almost done, that will force some of the european/EU laws in the US. Now, that sounded incredibly stupid and impossible to do, but then again, I've been watching Last Week Tonight with John Oliver for months and it doesn't sound any more stupid than most of the stuff on his show!

----------------- Back to the Topic -----------------

More to the topic. I do not own the game but heard it is quite good. The Developers were also quite open when they were asked about the Character DLC prices and showed how much money went into which part of the creation process. Their communication with the community is exemplary and they admit errors and apologize. That's fracking rare nowadays.

The Tutorial for the game teaches you a lot about beat-em-ups - and it should, given that they are rare on PC and the multiplayer community isn't very active. Beat-em-ups have a very short livespan on Pc, and even though we had a few decent ones the past couple of years (Blazblue, Street Fighter, Injustice) it was always more a genre that was preferably played on consoles. Additionally, communities are split, meaning they do not crossplay between xbox, ps3 and pc - each has their own community, limiting online play even more. Your best bet will be the Steam forums or one of the publishers official forums (though they seem rather basic).

Aaaanyway - what I am trying to say is that if someone is thinking of getting it - it is a game that is worth it's money with a dev studio behind it that communicates clear and honestly. There's even a Linux version out.

I play grapple characters all the time in fighting games (my SF4 main is T. Hawk after all) so this is a non-issue for me. I can't play charge characters worth a damn though.

I always had a thing for grapple characters as well, but this issue in particular troubled me way too much. I really appreciated when I found out they had *finally* adressed it... I really should get back to Skullgirls and play online.
