Except it utterly failed at everything it attempted to do. The game itself was moderately enjoyable, despite some terrible decisions, but the story was one giant clusterfuck of poor planning and poor execution.
I actually recently watched a video of GaijinGoomba's that explains that Other M does not follow the canon established by the games. it was apparently based off the canon of an old manga, that had a drastically different storyline to the main series games. He also said that Samus's charaterization was changed from a stoic badass in the Japanese version to an emotional wreck in the English version due to cultural differences behind the voice work. I can link it if anyone wants to watch.

People will cite Samus' break down when she met Ridley regardless of what you say regardless of what canon you use. I know which manga you mean though.
