After all the definition of a word changes depending on what time period you're referring to. The word toilet has meant so many things before it meant what it means today. So maybe that was the original intent of the word but it's changed. So nowadays when we are referring to the female version we say bimbo and when we refer to the male version we say himbo.

I like himbo, I just think it lacks some formality in commonality.
When I'm writing something bimbo-specific, I feel like you have to differentiate him from her as far as the 'imbo' goes. I didn't know this history though, so thank you for the education!
