I am confused, but I think I got it. The hypnosis worked on the god, but what it did is make the god essentially use hypnosis on themselves (thinking they did it to hypnotist) and essentially made it so that the hypnotist doesn't need to use their magic to sustain it.

I think I got it?

Based on the tags I think it's this: The goddess wanted to be hypnotized, but regular mortal hypnotism doesn't work on her. So she found a loophole: by controlling the hypnotist, she brought her own power into the equation, and then turned it back on herself by making them "her master."

You guys are sort of getting it. Wrote this with one hand so it might not have been the most coherent thing. Basically, the goddess was hoping the mortal's hypnosis would work, and it wound up as a sort of "fine, ill do it myself" situation. A thing I really tried to do was to make the commands apply to both parties.
