So, these scenes are from a Russian animated movie named (translated) Ruslan and Ludmila: More Than a Fairytale. This movie is actually set to get an English release later this month, renamed to "Rebellious". I'm unsure if it is simply a dub or a rewrite/re-edit, hence I've included both names in the tags. I don't know the character's names in this or the Rebellious version (I think the princess is Ludmila in the original and Mina in Rebellious?), so I'm just putting a character request there for now.
As of yet, I haven't found a subtitled version, and the English version isn't out yet, so I got these raw clips from the Russian original. Hopefully the quality turned out alright. I had to use screen recording for these.
If one is familiar with the original story of Ruslan and Ludmila that this is (loosely) based on, they can glean SOME context, i.e. the bearded fellow at the end would seem to be Chernomor, the wizard who kidnaps Ludmila in the original story; given his name comes up repeatedly in the song, I'm guessing the idea here is that our shape-shifting sorceress is trying to convince Ludmila into marrying/staying prisoner to Chernomor. The hypnosis also seems to be an extension of the original story's idea that Ludmila finds herself surrounded with luxuries while Chernomor's prisoner, meant to tempt her into staying with him, which is why our Big Number winds up being built around the parade of fancy food and dresses being offered up to her by Monster Servants.
@JCavalier "Hypnotize the Princess" is the best trope. One day, Disney will realize this.
@MasterofDisaster Thank you for the context. I'm looking forward to checking out the English adaptation as soon as it hits streaming. It'll be interesting to see if anything besides names are changed.
I looked the film up to see if it was animated by the same people who did that one Pinocchio movie with Pauly Shore my disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined.
