I like the writing here a lot, but the whole block of text in the upper left corner is, uh, awkwardly placed, to say the least.

If you ran out of space, it might make more sense to consolidate some of the paragraphs and widen the margins on the left and right.

I'm 99% sure the block of text in the top left is to cover up 2 characters that can't easily be removed and don't fit the story.
If you look at the source there was also a third character on the right, but that is much easier to remove.
