Why are anime girls so hot?
*laughs* I actually remember reading something about that.
In a nutshell, it's because they're designed to exemplify the generally more attractive traits of the human female body. That's not just meant in an overtly sexual sense, either.
For example, most anime girls have extremely healthy hair and skin. How many anime girls have you seen with pimples or other skin blemishes? Hair and skin health are actually two of the factors that matter to most people when considering how nice another person looks. Not even the mention that eyes and mouths (and other parts of the face), which are the parts of the body people tend to notice first when seeing someone new, are generally much more detailed compared to the rest of the drawn body of an anime girl.
In short: they're designed that way. :)
I bet the last thing you expected was a serious answer. :3

i heard about that. it's like "simple-looking bodies without many details are hotter" though freckles are hot too, so idk what to make of it

not really "lacking detail" as much as "lacking blemishes" for all the cancer that they secretly are, freckles are associated with cuteness in a way.... (not sure if it's a nature or nurture thing) freckles, unlike pimples are programmed into our minds as cute, and if you can pull of the look of them in art it makes the character that much cuter.

Of course, there ARE unattractive ones, but those are usually killed off/random bystanders/corrupted by something/evil.

I think one of my friends commented to me about this about a character designer or something who said something along the lines of, "If I can make all my characters hot, why shouldn't I?"

A friend of mine had a similar problem when she was at university and got criticised for the girls she drew being too busty and pretty.
I read a theory somewhere that the more simplified/iconic a character is drawn, the easier it is for the viewer to self-identify with them. One subconsciously "fills in gaps" and can become more attached to the subject because one has put a little of themselves into it.
Back on the subject of this particular image, I really like the crossings out/corrections. Very nice touch.

Sometimes I adore comment sections. This is one of those times.
You're welcome. :P

Beyond what I mentioned earlier, there's also often a strong sense of exoticism in many drawn images of characters. With drawn characters, you get to see things you are very unlikely to see in real life on real women, or that are quite literally impossible.
The most common example would be hair colors and styles. A lot of "anime hair" colors and styles don't actually exist unless the hair is dyed or a very strong combination of cosmetic tools are used to "set" the hair into position. But, of course, this applies to much more than just hair.
Humans are naturally attracted to exotic things, things out of the ordinary. With drawn characters, exotic traits are a dime a dozen if you look hard enough.

Thanks. It was originally supposed to be a long story but my writing was so bad I had to delete it. Then I was like 'fkit it'll be a short diary-esque entry and have scribbles instead'.
