link's got some nice quads for an 8-year-old
Its GTA Link. That is why he is getting hearts for plowing someone. My logic is flawless.

WW Link is at least 17. WW is in the Adult Timeline. In the Adult Timeline the world knows the Hero of Time as his teenage self. WW Link is said to be the same age as the Hero of Time. Therefor he is at least 17.

...Twilight Princess is part of the child timeline so that means nothing.

What adult link? He goes back in time, leaving no hero in the future. Most of the people who know link would have met him as a child first, and most of THEM are in on the whole time travel via master sword thing since most civilizations have a sage amongst them afterward.

He's referring to the LoZ timeline in the Hyrule Historia which states Orcarina of time had 3 endings creating 3 universes, won as an Adult, won as a Child, and died in his journey. So in the Wind Waker Timeline, the adult link did exist since he never returned to being a child.

I know, and in the perspective of the windwaker timeline; there is no Adult Link prancing about after Ganon was defeated, because he stopped existing as a result of being sent back to being a child. That is the whole reason the world gets flooded later.
Most of the people who would have met Link as an adult, and could have known he was the one saving the world were people who turned out to be sages, or are closely related to the people who would turn out to be sages, and thus would know or find out that Link was the same child from seven years ago, temporarily inhabiting an adult body for the sake of using the Master Sword.
Hell, the odds are pretty good that Zelda outright announced that Link was from the past and had to return to being a child after slaying Ganon. Most people would probably be rather inquisitive over why the hero who saved the world isn't anywhere to be found afterward, and there isn't really any reason to keep it a secret.

From the perspective of the WW timeline Adult Link existed. Hell, the opening says as much. It talks about how the Hero of Time bested Ganon, but disappeared at their moment of greatest need. He was sent back in time, however that didn't erase his presence from that timeline. The Hero of Time ONLY exists in the Adult Timeline. In the Child Timeline Ganon was imprisoned in the Twilight Realm by the Sages, and Link never took up the Master Sword. In the Failure Timeline he died.
And even assuming it was common knowledge that Link came from the past, the legends that survived Hyrules destruction make NO mention of that. Since Outset Island's customs are based on those legends, it's safe to assume that being the age of the Hero of Legend refers to Adult Link, which means being 17.
