Far as I can tell, there might be though in the manga those where just part of an outfit that purple-hair guy wore with two other girls, honestly I can't tell what's controlling them between the necklaces, bands, unseen psychic influence, or something else.

The story behind this was that fat kid was a phoney psychic who was getting bored of his two followers and decided to kidnap Anzu to become his. He was planning to knock her out with chloroform and I assume brainwash her or something, I'm also not sure if the two women who were acting as his followers were genuine or not but the issue never dwelled on them.
