Guidelines for frequent blacklists
So I had a little Idea: We've all had that very common tag that we just don't want to see. Problem? People won't tag crap correctly, meaning your biggest turn-off just landed front page and ruined the night. Yay. Additionally, A lot of stuff I've held as favorites poofed when I update my blacklists with common, largely unrelated terms.

So what if we had set and enforced guidelines for some of the most commonly blacklisted tags. For instance, it could say that "The cat_girl tag does not apply if the subject has catlike traits in more than the ears, tail, teeth/mouth, and paws. Any more catlike features constitutes use of the furry or anthro tags." Obviously, we can't do this with EVERY vaguely mistakable tag, that would take ages, but I think if we tallied our blacklists, with special attention to the ones that are most commonly included without cause or excluded where applicable.

Some of my common tags that I've blacklisted, feel free to include yours:
loli (Fairly often tagged)
shota (Ditto)
my_little_pony (Somewhat tagged, yet many untagged due to sheer volume)
mlp (Ditto)
penis (Rarely tagged)
fat (Somewhat tagged)
futa (Rarely tagged)
3D (Uncommonly tagged)

I mean, we already have a default blacklist with the most dangerous things on it, and we already ask in our posting guidelines to consider what others may blacklist when tagging. I don't know what else we could feasibly do without being overbearing.

I'd also like to point out that mlp and futa are not tags. Those would be my_little_pony and futanari.

Ah well, thanks with Futanari, I'll pop that in.

But I mostly just meant for something that can be used to clear up any confusion or uncertainty that posters may have. Something that can be given the once-over when posting, and used by tag editors to help everyone involved.

I'm really not sure a list of common blacklists on the forum would do anything helpful really. Especially given that the last two times I remember someone made a thread asking people to post their blacklists the threads went down in flames.

Since we generally want to include every relevant tag, not just for blacklist reasons but also for making searches more useful, the only real reasons for a tag to not be included (the person being lazy, not knowing what a word in a tag means, or mistakenly believing a tag does not apply that does) would not be solved by a forum thread since they either would not look at the thread, would not know what the word meant anyway just looking at the tags, or would still not believe the tag applies.

The last one a forum thread might have potential to help solve, but then, the wiki already exists and explains what tags mean so if they ignored that resource already why would they pay attention to this one?

Things on the default blacklist should probably be given an elevated status like loli/shota requiring them to be tagged since they're on the default blacklist for a reason (is there things other than loli/shota on the default blacklist?). Otherwise, if you want things cleaned up, a big part of it is tagging it yourself.

I remember the last time this suggestion came up. Mainly because I was the one suggesting it.

The end result was a bunch of furries getting mad and me getting temp banned because I dared to tell them that furry was pretty weird and users should make sure to tag it upon uploading.

Fun times.

This is a community website, with community tagging. If an image is missing a tag or two, just go ahead and add it in yourself. Your night will not be ruined if a stray penis or pony slips past your blacklist. If that is the case, get a thicker skin.

If a person is repeatedly failing to add a certain tag to their images, ask a mod to talk to them.

The bigger sin is when someone uploads an image and doesn't tag it at all. Fuck those people.

Instead of hiding your salt amongst this comment why don't you complain like you normally do? I'd much rather see you complaining rather than throwing bait around like this.

But why can't I complain AND throw bait around?

Because hunting with bait is unsportsmanlike. Unless you are fishing. But in that case, you wouldn't want to be distracted with complaining with a sharp fish hooks around.

It's set out in the <<hypnohub.net/wiki/show?title=help%3Atagging_guidelines|tagging guidelines>> that if a post has shota/loli content and it's not been tagged the account that posted it may be banned. I don't think we've ever had to go that far since usually someone tags it before then, but it's still a rule.

That's true, but also justified in that loli and shota are outright illegal in some countries/states.

I don't think enforcing any kind of rule would really help for this, personally - i mean sure, make it a guideline. "Please keep other users' potential blacklists in mind when tagging images. We've had enough complaining in the comments section." But enforcing it is going to be futile. Everyone forgets a tag now and then - time spent complaining can also be used to add the tag yourself.
