How do you get paid to make fetish stuff for people?
So right now I'm looking at day-labor. And I'm looking at this backend for a game I've just scratched- which I want to feature erotic mc content, though not be outright porn. And I want to cover my cost of living, daylabor sounds like it will just barely cover it. That's about a grand a month.

But I really want to set up a kickstarter or patreon for this game. Kickstarter is the preference because, I'm a junior CS major with 2 years to go on my degree. I have depression. So even though I really want to do this and I'm motivated, committing to monthly deliveries does not seem wise because I need to be able to go to school, and the depression seems to make pursuing things I enjoy harder.

I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch and day-labor seems like the most immediately viable option. But I realized I have no idea how I would get support for this, even if I complete the back end enough to have a working prototype (which I feel is a requirement before I run a fund raiser). And I know that I have to word things carefully because even though there are erotic projects on kickstarter and patreon - their terms of service discourage this.

So how practically would I go about fundraising an adult game? What are the basic beginner steps and considerations for what I have to do? Is there a limit I have to place on my content, other than the practical idea of obeying the obscenity laws of my location? I don't really want to talk about my project too much, because I want there to be a forum post for getting over this small hurdle and not what might be a vaporware project. If someone can talk about their funding experience with patreon I'd appreciate it. I don't necessarily expect to make what I need off this for rent, immediately - but some idea of what I can expect would be nice.

I would say, go pester someone that has actually done this before so you can get more detailed tips/considerations. (Like that almighty Overwhored creator =P)

My initial thought is that you probably need a proof of concept of some sort to prove that you are able to do something/give an example for people/judge whether people want this or not.

I agree and probably will (sorry in advance Cypress...). My goal is to have a functional, if ugly back end of menus and maybe a bit of illustrated content to show people at the beginning of this, a 30 second shpeal about what it is about and the ability to explain how it could be extended into something worth fundraising. The last two are easy. The first one is why I'm looking at daylabor.

"how do i get paid to make internet porn" is not an easy question to answer because every payment processor fucking hates you
patreon sort of allows it but patreon is shit
don't count on something to pay your cost of living if you can't deliver monthly, anyways
you're not going to generate hype like cubeworld or something had

Try to complete a small-scale project like a demo or short game before even considering making money out of games. Believe me, it is quite a lot harder than many people seem to think it is.

Make a highly-scripted battlefield/cod/minecraft/fallout/madden crossover demo with a trademark-friendly name and then bait and switch it for what you really want after you meet your goals. Remember, it's not lying as long as you have contingencies in 1pt print in the middle of a sea of random, inane, and redundant legalese.

Or just bring them here. It's not like they can leave, so you'll have 'em where you want 'em :3
