Blizzard is trying to stop the avalanche.
Overwatch porn is being deleted by Blizzard. Do we stahp, or make more? Considering I think we have rules on not uploading what artists don't want reuploaded, I'm not sure where this stands.

This actually reminds me of that video Jim Sterling made about <<www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQxy_rvv8a4|the subject>> fairly recently.

I've always looked down upon sexualization of women in art, but porn is its own medium, in which it doesn't matter. In a perfect world they'd leave the porn alone, but copyright and brand protection and all that. So I get it, but I don't like it. I just hope they're not being all scared over integrity and are doing it for the sake of the game, not because it offends them, since so many people are enjoying it and it speaks volumes of their character design ability. And besides, there is NO WAY they can stop it. It's porn. So unless they'll takedown the whole hub, upload Overwatch SFMs as much as you want.

Well it's not s much porn in general it's porn using the in game assets that they are deleting. Which to me says they think it's steal their game assests to make porn so yeah not so much the art

Yeah, haven't watched that one yet. Didn't realize it was on this, cause I only just found out it was happening. Any Fukonami news?

[spoiler]Fucking Jim, making me spend money, but I couldn't not get that Mysterios shirt.

Exactly. The only porn they're going after are the ones ripping game assets. Drawn stuff is being left alone. But, c'mon. We all know the 3D ones aren't really going to disappear.

Oh, I know it ain't ending, but I was curious because I was under the belief that we don't post things if the rights holders don't want us to, be it re-uploads, or original characters from deviantart. I wasn't sure if this counted under that.

Trying to stop an avalanche? This reminds me of a B5 quote: "The avalanche has already started. It is too late for the pebbles to vote." ;)

I've actually heard that they outsourced the take-downs and the company that they outsourced it to has taken down some 2D art as well.

This seems to be a case of the Streisand effect going critical mass. I think this anti-porn thing going right now is probably tied directly into the Tracer debacle. All the "protest porn" is probably the reason why overwatch porn ended up getting so much interest.

And yet, instead of learning what the Streisand effect is and stopping, Blizzard is now trying to censor the internet as well. This can only end with tons of porn.

It's like they've never heard of the Streisand Effect.

Who knows, maybe Blizzard will be the first ever company to actually stop something on the internet

That is the best way to summarize everything about this.

This is more likely a mistake on the part of a 3rd party hired by Blizzard than a conscious decision on their part.

Or a clever move to generate publicity.

Either way, we will never ever get any kind of official statement, so their intentions are kind of a moot point.
