I just read a short synopsis and jeez man, I don't think I can handle that. This sounds like the kind of movie that's going to make me cry like a little bitch.

Yeah that sounds like a punch right in the feels.

So, I just got back from A Monster Calls.

Damn.

A better writer could give you a good explanation of why you need to see it without spoiling anything (looks at Contorted), but I can't. So. Do it. But it's not actually out yet. So. Do it. Later.

Whatchu talking about, bitch?

Moana is a darn good movie, good enough that I agreed to see it a second time, which is rare when movie tickets are so expensive. The fact that most of it was just Moana, Maui, the chicken, and the ocean all interacting (except that delightful interlude with the crab) sets it apart from most other Disney fare. Maui was also the most spot-on representation of a classic mythological demigod I've ever seen.
I know I'm 3 weeks late on it, but I had to wait for my dad to have time to go with me, as it's been a tradition of sorts for he and I to watch all the Marvel Movies in theaters, but, at last, I have seen the magnificent Doctor Strange! Best way to describe it: The guys at Marvel Studios watched Inception, and said to themselves, "We can do WAY better! Honestly? Only TWO cities? HOW ABOUT 20?!" Also, I rewatched the 2007 Animated Doc Strange movie a few days ago in preparation for the inevitable need to compare the two. Personally, while I think the voice lines of the Animated one were more "in-tune" with the feel of the comics, the psychedelic visuals combined with the aura of Benny Cumberbatch made for a far more exciting experience. The new, non-animated one kept the major plot points of the comics (Strange is #1 neurosurgeon in world, has car crash that ruins hands forever, goes to Himalayas to seek a way to get them back, gets magic powers, saves world, becomes Sorcerer Supreme (That's a quick recap of the basic plot of the movie, without spoiling too much, though probably at this point, everyone on the Hub who wants to see it, has.)) and, to be quite frank, managed to make far cooler looking visual representations of the magic than the animated one. Also, the time loop for making a successful bargain with Dormamu was a genius idea. Time loop="Dormamu is prisoner of infinite loop of trying to kill Ben Cumberbatch until he bargains with ol' Benny".
My only complaint about Dr. Strange is this: FUCK YOU CHINA FOR THROWING A HISSYFIT ABOUT The Ancient One BEING A TIBETAN MAN! FUCK YOU, AND FUCK YOUR TOTALITARIAN GOVERNMENT THAT'S GAMIFYING THE ACT OF BEING A CITIZEN THAT DOESN'T QUESTION THE FACT THAT THEIR GOVERNMENT IS EVEN MORE CORRUPT THAN AMERICA'S! FUCK YOU, FUCK YOU, FUCK YOU!

No one even mentioned this from 19 days ago... Perhaps it was the wall of text, perhaps it was the bit that I left "un-spoilered". This "gamification of being a "good citizen"" that China's doing is a big deal, and if we don't deal with it, it'll become a BIG PROBLEM.

That probably shouldn't be discussed here, at risk of derailing the thread.

Saw Moana the other day. Lovely movie that had me smiling and laughing. Even picked up the soundtrack (Incidentally the first part of 'Shiny' sounds really weird if you don't have the scene to put into context).

ON a odd side note... you might be able to make a argument Maui has some minor hypnosis/illusion skills... since he does make Moana think a handful of Rocks are various fruits during the 'your welcome' song.

ZombBeavers. Name pretty much tells you all you need to know.

It's a B moive and it knows it. If you just want a good dose of really dumb horror that doesn't really try to be scary it's worth a watch.

Independence Day Resurgence is one of the dumbest blockbusters I've seen in recent memory and I suggest everyone to stay far away from it.

ESPECIALLY if you love the original.

Awesome! One of my favorite movies of all time! ^^

Me and the kids saw Kubo and the Two Strings for the first time a couple days ago. Really incredible movie, even if some of it was a little predictable (I figured out who Monkey and Beetle really were supposed to be like the second they were introduced). I can honestly say I didn't see that ending coming, though.
I think it's sort of made obvious on purpose that you know who they are. It makes it all the more tragic when they find out, only to die a few moments later.

Yeah, that does make sense, now that I think about it.

Also, this movie made me attracted to a beetle man, so there's that as well. XD
