Saw A Monster Calls on Thursday. Pretty good. Despite a messy script and pacing issues, the film had technical skill and emotion to spare. I kind of felt like it treaded on the same ground Kubo and The Two Strings did (yes, I am aware that Monster came out before Kubo did) but Kubo handled those topics with more grace and momentum than Monster did.

That being said however, the last shot made me tear up like a bitch. To those who've seen it, you know the one.

I found out there was a Professor Layton movie and watched it with my kids. It was surprisingly really good, I really enjoy the art style. Sort of reminds me of Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis.

Also watched a creepy movie for Friday the 13th--Burnt Offerings, a movie about a malevolent house that seems to gather strength from negative happenings and death that occurs in the house or on its grounds, and repairs itself in the process. I forgot just how....upsetting that movie is. I mean, all the shit that poor kid had to go through, Jesus. XD

Still absolutely EVERYONE ownes him/herself to have played the game. It doesn't matter that the game has mediocre gameplay when there is 10/10 humor every 5 seconds. I actually thought it was a better experience all in all than the Deadpool movie even, and that one was already great.

I mean you get to bitch slap Wolverine. 57 times. And there are hilarious Zelda and JRPG references. Can't get any better than that.

Watched the Rachet and Clank moive. As someone who never played the games I had no real investment in it and have to say it was...meh.

Not terrible but not quite good either, just middle of the road average meh worthy.

Trust me it's worse if you ARE a fan.

Pretty much. Still glad I saw it though.

Saw Kevin Munroe's name in the credits and not to be mean but that explained a lot.

Watched "How to be Single" last night (the best option out of 5 channels of HBO, go figure).

It wasn't as much of a comedy as the commercials let on (with the fat British woman playing like a raunchier version of the stock Jessie McCarthy role), she anchored it with a lot of humor from being a complete bore, but most of it was just sort of a melancholy about being an upper class 20-something in New York. It seemed like it was self-aware about that, since they often referred to similar works (Friends, Bridget Jones, Sex and the City), but it didn't get far enough away that you could really sympathize with the struggles of these beautiful people affording expensive-ass Manhattan apartments, especially since the main characters' struggle is "i don't know how to NOT be in a relationship!" which, for a guy like me who's never had one, is a bit of a headscratcher.

You have HBO? Would you mind if I made a suggestion or two?

Yeah, especially considering how badly its doing at the box office. But hey, the screening I went to was pretty nice. Cheap but really high quality in terms of presentation. Seats and the amount of trailers left to be desired tho but what can ya do?

Next up for my theater viewing will be La La Land and Patriots Day. And fingers crossed Silence plays around me soon!

Fire away. Last time i had HBO (up until July last year, then i only regained it right before New Year's) all i really followed was Silicon Valley, and watched whatever movie was on otherwise.

Check out The Revenant and The Man From UNCLE if you get the chance. Both films were firmly on my favorites of 2015 list and offer a lot in terms of entertainment value, though the former manages to be quite possibly one of the most haunting movies I've seen this decade (and one of the best imo).

Shows-wise, Westworld just ended and that one makes for a pretty good headfuck.

Damn, I need to get me a copy. I have the two-disc DVD set with the "pocket" DVD full of special features, but it's in pretty rough shape since I bought it used.

Yeah, it got a blu ray/DVD combo release just this week in the UK (Well, the limited edition steelbook anyhow. Normal release is in March). No idea about everywhere else.
