I don't think having a lot of moderators is a good idea. If everyone is a moderator then where's the security of the IRC? You need those few people to moderate and have them not be disputed. It's actually a lot of responsibility but they are not alone. The whole community will be there to back them up. Hell even though I'm not a mod, I will back those mods up in case they need anything.
