HypnoHub IRC (Site Chat!)
So, Mindwipe and I are seriously considering creating an IRC for the Hub. I've already begun looking at reputable, free IRC services and web clients, and even set up a HypnoHub channel on one of them. Us getting an IRC is not too unlikely!
Now, before we all go celebrating and whatnot, we have business to take care of. The most important of which is:
Who will be our IRC moderators?
Mindwipe and I do not wish to be the main moderators for the IRC. I doubt I'd be able to devote all too much time to it, anyway, and Mindwipe is busy monitoring pretty much every other aspect of the site (not that I'm not, but he pretty much takes care of tagging and the like by his lonesome).
As such, we decided that we're going to need some volunteer chat moderators for our IRC channel. We want at least 4 moderators, probably more, so that there will be at least one online (aside from Mindwipe and myself) every so often to ensure that no one's doing bad things. :P
As an IRC moderator, I'm not going to ask that you devote your life or even all of your free time to the IRC, but I would definitely prefer if you would spend a fair bit of time there each day. As such, it is recommended that you only apply if you intend to kill time in the chat quite often. If you're an internet social butterfly, then you're perfect for this. Also, know that this is in no way a permanent position. If you ever wish to stop moderating for any reason, then all you need to do is contact us and we'll remove you from the moderator list.
As for what moderators do? Well, that's simple. You just need to keep the chatters playing nice with one another. Calm down any hostility and, if someone remains hostile, silence them temporarily (literally: turn off their ability to type into the channel).
Anyone interested? Don't be shy, now. If you're interested, give us a holler. We'll look through the (few) applicants we end up with and choose a few of them based on personal bias, as well as credentials. :P Or, if all that fails, maybe we'll just flip coins. In any case, if you're chosen, we'll DMail you some info you'll need to set up your account for the IRC channel and whatnot.
