Hypno is the mascot of the entire pokemon section of this website but you're right there are dozens of pokemon that learn hypnosis or some other mind control move naturally and HUNDREDS that can learn it by TM's it would be nice if hypno wasn't hogging the spotlight

Probably because it's the most 'relatable'. Most people know Gen 1, and even if they don't it's called HYPNO. It's a bipedal humanoid which allows for easier self-insert/helpful to those who dislike bestiality, and easier to draw in sexual situations compared to say a Spiritomb or Yanma, etc.

Also Hypnosis isn't a TM =P

Hypno is also the one most heavily connected to hypnosis. A number of other Pokémon are known to, and even known for, using hypnosis and mind control. Hypno has that, plus it literally carries around a hypnotic pendulum, and as you mentioned it's even named Hypno. Hypno's going to be the fandom rep for this fetish for as long as the fandom exists, I'd bet.

True, but you'd expect the other Psychics. Let Abra/Kadabra/Alakazam in on it. Let's see a Drowsee(or a hypno) actually using the Hypnosis/Dream Eater combo it's built around.

I think it also has to do with lore with Hypno where it will wait till someone comes by just so they can hypnotize them and eat their dreams (as mentioned by Bloodly).
Sited numerous of times in the pokedex and even in fire red as well as Pokemon X about it kidnapping a child. This with addition of the name, the pendulum, the effects of its pendulum, And all the other facts make it the perfect canidate for all.

Despite loving Hypno and Misty/May as a kiddo, it's true that there are far more creative candidates for hypnopics in the Pokemon world. That's why I started drawing Gym Leaders or other NPCs with rarely used pokemon <3

What difference would that make? Instead of a fat yellow man, you'd have an emaciated yellow man who's probably harder to draw.

well how about Mewtwo and its "mother" Mew? also, I call Mew Mewtwo's mother because I honestly can't imagine Mew being a male. also because Mewtwo is a clone of Mew(not exact, but still a genetic copy), just like with Wolverine and X23
