Considering the fact that you all collectively LOST YOUR SHIT over the mesmer from subnautica i thought you'd like THE REST of the game. like the fact that you can get the gravity gun

How's it compare to like... ARK or RUST or those other survival games? I think I've had my fill of the genre... but hypnofish thing is a cool meme.

I got Subnautica pretty early on, actually, but kinda stopped playing it ... well, months ago. This whole thing is making me think I should look into it again.
Not just for the hypnofish. only mostly.
As for comparing it to Ark, kinda sorta, but it's underwater and much higher tech. And you get to make vehicles and undersea bases, so that's cool.Although I stopped before the bases were added

The high tech parts of these games are like the worst part tho. Maybe it works better with subnautica cause of the whole high tech feel, but ARKs high tech stuff is so jarring in a caveman dinosaur game. Legit all I want tho is like... prehistoric or post apocalyptic Sega Bass Fishing. I just wanna fish.

I agree with ARK, since that starts you off naked and at caveman level. Subnautica, you begin in an escape pod from your crashed spaceship with a sci-fi tool in hand. It doesn't have the awkward "Hunter-gatherer > machine gun turrets!" jump that Ark does.

yeah you start out high tech and get more high tech, i think the lowest tech thing in the game is a diving knife and you 3D print it
I kinda bounced off of the idea of Subnautica because it looked like a standard survival game, but underwater. On top of that, somebody I know and find really annoying kept pestering me to buy it, so I avoided it out of principle. It is interesting to see MC in the game, but I probably still won't buy it.

because you can get a mechsuit. and your character aparrently has a virus that you need to cure in five weeks or you will die. yes the game has a story and a goal in mind but you dont really care about that do you pink?
