Conversion from Real Video format
I found an old FD, hypnotizing-the-viewer vid in my old backups from the original Collective days, when we were all hurrying to rescue the files before the site was closed (someone had complained to the host that we were glorifying slavery). The problem is, it's in Real Video format, and none of the sites I know to post it to (or even the ones I go to for video conversion) support it.

Is there somebody here who can convert .ram to something more normal like .avi, .wmv or .mp4?

I'll have to check, but I may be able to do it with a program I have.

Yes; Install Avisyth and MeGUI. It will look a bit technical but it will have excellent presets and a huge amount of options to get the files in a great shape.

I recommend either:
MKV container with x264 video and Nero AAC audio (separate download, free), or
AVI container with XviD video and LameMP3 audio.

The first option is what I use for everything, impressive quality and compression ratio. The second one is what I'd use for playback on a regular DVD player (XviD is DivX compatible).

Oh, and if need be, you can apply exceptional filters with Avisynth. Like absolutely unmatched de-interlacing, and also several options for denoising, sharpening and image enlargement using really state-of-art techniques that will both absolutely impress you (all for free with just a bit of technical understanding) and make your encoding speed really slow, lol.
