Collective down

So the hypnopics-collective is down? Wassup?
Anybody has any information what's happening?
Again DMCA? Or just a bad-planned server maintenance?

I hope this is not fucking DMCA again. Thank's god, there is no DMCA in Russia.

My first thoughts to this were: "meh..." but then I began to think what does that mean for us?!

It seems to me that we might be even more likely of getting a DMCA than the collective. I hope it wasn't a DMCA and I hope that whoever issued it tries to contact this site before d

Then I started thinking: "the collective wasn't really known for carrying a lot of art around so much as it was for all it's random poorly manipped IRL images."

So I was thinking that we probably wouldn't have much of that to worry about since this site doesn't have any much of that.

But then... I thought...: "where will those who post such content post next!?

Yes, you're right. I know that the collective did have some some priceless gems; a few of which I really enjoyed. I just think the ratio of good to poor quality was extremely unbalanced and the moderators should have done something about it. Also, the site itself hadn't update its format in years. I don't know what software they use nor do I know a thing about programming but I had always thought that the collective ran on an original system. If that was the case then I would think that the admins could keep better track of their site and the content posted there.

I would have thought that by now a place as old as that would have updated to the point where it's more personalized and easily navigable. Not only was the content on that site typically bad it was also a mess to search through. The tags on the collective had know consistency. I found the posting limit (ten images a day) to be completely retraining and unnecessary. I know that the people on the collective are usually nice most of the time but it seemed like everything else their was done without the slightest ounce of care.

That's probably why I'm so indifferent about whether or not it comes back up and more concerned about what happen to this site because I truly do love Hypnohub. It's far from the personalized convenient masterpiece we all are waiting for but it's leagues better than the collective and that's not opinion it's fact!

Moderating. Really. Collective must be more moderated. For example . I cant remember his name, someting like j-jswat , he is manipper who making 14-17 pics every day, and they are really horrible, with ugly womens and stupid text. I write few comments on his pics, - man WTF are you doin? Stop this please. But somebody deleted my comments.

Shit, i confused Manipps and captions. I mean captions. Smuthunter, oneeyestranger and others. There is no nice manippers on collective.

I like both captions and manips and I think it's awesome when you put them together. If I had to chose, however, I would pick a decent manip over a caption. Especially when it comes to images on the collective where most are just the poorly thought out ramblings of an egomaniac pretending to be a hypnotist.

They almost never included an induction and it's usually some spiteful revenge scheme driven by sexual frustration. I almost always read them in a really annoying and generic voice which was good for a few laughs but in the end made me feel a little perturbed that people actually enjoyed that stuff.

Sorry... I don't mean to bash I just have a few hangups about the collective. (I'm sure that I'm not alone.) I'm done venting now... I think.

Their domain name is not resolving. Meaning that maybe their servers are 100% working but we just have no means of knowing their IP anymore.

One option is that they forgot to renew the domain name. <<who.is/whois/hypnopics-collective.net|They're hosting the name with DreamHost>>, maybe someone knows if they're good or bad with the grace periods. (GoDaddy for example will cut your domain offline without notice). Edit: actually, the domain itself should only expire on Feb 2014.

I do hope they didn't recieve legal action or anything of the sort. There were a few nice things there, between and beneath the flood of unmetered bad content and poor tagging.

Speaking of bad manipers and moderation; J J Swat doesn't annoy me nearly as much as Human. Infact; Human is THE reason there is a 10 per day limit on posting, as before that he would post 30-60 page long stories written crudely and in perfect Engrish all at once. every. single. day. (even ignoring the soft suggestion to limit daily uploads, only restricting himself to 10 a day when it became an official rule)

It takes quite a bit to get the mods to do something there it seems. They try to keep a welcoming atmosphere, though it did mean unfortunately a lot of awful manippers got to post constantly without ever improving.

Those two are why I stopped going to the collective. I mean, I'm no prize-winning writer, but at least I fluently know the language I'm writing it and proofread every single thing that I write.
