There's something about DXing AM radio that's oddly satisfying.

Yeah, AM radio, home to talk radio, news radio, oldies stations, and evangelicals who desperately want the verses in Revelations to come to pass.

There's something about pulling out a radio old enough to have a ferrite core AM antenna and a dial, and slowly moving through the frequencies until you hear voices coming through the static...

The station kinda fades in and out... in and out...

Then you hear their call sign and google it to find out they're broadcasting over 1000 miles away from where you live.

Had my birthday Sunday.

Told my friends they didn't need to bring gifts, them being there was more than enough.

One of my friends had other ideas. You see, she goes to an art school. And she decided that a great present for my birthday would be a highly detailed drawing of Ruby Rose from RWBY. She was right. I have no clue how long she spent getting the details just right. When I was unwrapping it I wondered what was in the package, and when I saw, I was so happy.

I did so fucking much today and yesterday! When everyone else is dying in the heat and you see that one crazy person running around voluntarily doing dashes and errands? That me.

4-5h on my bike these two days combined. Definitely got my 10k steps and more on both.

And best of all, I'm so goddamned tired I know I won't have a single dream tonight. Just that deep sleep no REM for me, baby! Fuck yeah!

made a pound cake from scratch to test out an electric mixer I got last Xmas, think I left it in the oven too long and it developed crispy outer shell, but I found it was still good, kind of like a biscotti with a soft center

My nieces paid a surprise visit when they came to town for a Mother's Day thing, so it was fun to hang out with them for a day and score some "cool uncle" points, plus they helped me with my frequent problem of baking more than I can eat myself by taking some of that pound cake off my hands

Also finished my last bit of math homework for the semester, still have one last test tomorrow, but hoping I can finish off strong and have some space to breathe, see a movie or two, etc.

Was there a thread for Infinity War? Because I watched it. As a moviegoer, I dug it. As a fantasy-booking so-and-so, I was disconcerted.
