Agreed, and agreed.

Watched this show as a younger teen. I loved it at the time because it was Nintendo and I loved anything Nintendo. Back then, we didn't have a lot of representations of many of these games and series in outside media so we had an idea that things weren't that accurate, but we didn't care as much.

It's definitely more of a problem in modern times, and I would say this show is a huge example of certainly not aging well, at all.

Sure it sucks now and I would say IS worthy of mocking, but it wasn't always received so badly. It's just aged horribly, since now we all know WAY more about these franchises and they all have their own established canons.

So, a few fun facts I know about this series:
Firstly, the character designers and the writers were not given very much material to look at to make the show with. The most they got, reportedly was out of context gameplay footage of most of the game series being covered, and that was about it.

They were not provided with any canon, character history or official artwork, just in-game footage of NES games and told to write something. Given THAT minuscule amount of context they were given, i'm surprised it's as decent as it IS.

Secondly, I also read about the original idea of this show was stolen from a Nintendo Game Counselor who loved his job and took it seriously, back in the days when Nintendo had a phone help line for their games. He pitched a comic book series to possibly run in Nintendo Power or something based on a character he made up and based partly on himself called "Captain Nintendo".

Apparently when he pitched this idea to people around Nintendo Of America, some higher ups just nabbed the idea, changed a lot of it for themselves and sold it to DiC without giving the guy any royalties or involving him or even telling him.Kinda sad, but that's how it goes when you work for a company in a lower position and start giving your bosses ideas they can just take.

Thirdly, one of the writers on this show later lamented that he was never told about Samus Aran. In the footage, it was just "an orange robot looking guy" and they didn't think that looked very interesting.

When hearing later that Samus was a sexy, space mercenary, years later after the show had long since ended, according to an interview about it on a website, he was disappointed he didn't know that, because he would have written her into the show. It's also probably why she made it into the tie-in comic books.

And yes, I love when Princess Lana does the zombie walk. I always thought it was really hot how she stuck her leg out in one scene and I used to pause that a lot.
