chyoo assistance
I know this is kinda the wrong website, but I've been stalking the forums here long enough to know people here know their tech stuff.

Friend of mine pointed me the chyoo website (www.chyoo.com/ ), but when I try reading any story, I get a blank page with the text

Error querying: The MySQL server is running with the --read-only option so it cannot execute this statement

Any idea how to fix this?

Huh. I'm getting the same issue. Must be a problem on their end. Seeing as the site hasn't been updated since 2006, it might not be long for this world.

Same here. And since it's a MySQL error, it's most definitely on their end. Nothing you can do about it other than pray that the guy(s) who run it notice and care to fix it.

It would be such a shame if this were to go down...
Some of the stories here for Mind Control were pretty good. I mean, a majority were unfinished pieces of crap, but there was a gem or three...

Yeah there were a few that I liked.

I did try to go onto the site through the link in the obligatory links thread and it did work though.

EDIT:

It only showed the list of stories. When I tried to look at one I got the error.

Sorry about the double post. But for anyone interested, it seems like Chyoo is working again.

Huzah! The few gems on there are not yet lost!

Is there anyway one of us could try and preserve said gems?

Well, with lot's of work, one might be able to take them, put each "part" onto its own page, number them, and make it a "choose your own adventure" style text file. Or it might be possible to steal the HTML files and save them all into a folder for future use.

It's not likely, though. It would be extremely difficult to save them, because very, very few of them are complete. Since most of them are open to editing from anyone with an account, new paths are opened in stories every so often, and any attempt at saving one of these stories would be met with the realization that you'd either have to update them every so often or ignore any future additions to them.

In short: it's not realistic.

Out of curiosity. Which ones were your favorites Vanndrill?
