Didn't realise this was a manip to start with. As I regard the lifeless eyes/dull suprise look pretty much the default expression for the cast in this 'style'. :P

Of course, getting brainwashed was essentially all the Inner Senshi were good for in this series. Besides getting beaten up and or captured so that other characters could swoop in and look good at their expense.

I think there was a fair bit of anticipation for this anime and in the end, it didn't live up to the hype. It shot well below expectations if I recall correctly.
1
