Okay, will do. Uploading my improved empty eyes.

ALRIGHT, SO. I got a new image, different art style, and I'm trying out a semi-new way of making empty eyes.

i.imgur.com/65m4uAt.jpg

I kept the eyes at normal, and took the surrounding eye color, set the occupancy to 50%, colored over the eye again, again, and again, until the white was mostly gone, then I just colored it in pixel by pixel.

Anti-asslied, and done. It's kinda iffy, but its not too bad for a new way to do stuff. I think more working after Anti-assling would help.

I might make V2 with just smudging and coloring. But for now, what do you guys think?

...New species of Zerg? *starcraft*

So...wait. You paintbrushed over the eye with the tool at 50 opacity a couple of times, then filled it in pixel-by-pixel the rest of the way, right? Not bad. Cleaner than how you did the other one. I can't say I prefer it over a proper smudging, but it's certainly better than a nub manipper's solid-color fill-in eyes. ;)

Why thank you. I'll do that some more I guess. Should I upload this one?

Please do. You might be onto something.
Maybe a new way to make empty eyes. :3

I'm not really sure. I mean, it's good enough, definitely. But with how unapparent the empty eyes are (mainly due to the eyes being mostly downcast and small), I struggle to see the image as MC. As a manipper, you'll find that some images just don't lend themselves well to MC manips. It's a sort of skill all its own, being able to find images that fit, and it increases only with practice.

I guess I don't see why not. If there's a problem with it being up, one of us administration will take care of it, so no harm done.

Okay, crazy idea. Make it a whitewash, or a kaa.

Okay, so here's a kaa eye attempt.

I learned how to smudge better so the outline of the eye, added black into the colors.

And now I'm going to have my friend Dean help me with this stuff.

I told him my story about this place, and since he was very interested in GFX, and still is, he can help.

Also, what happened to the manip request thread?

BY JOVE I THINK I'VE GOT IT!

I'VE LEARNED HOW TO SMOOTH OUT THE EYES WITH OUT RUINING THEM!

YOU WERE RIGHT! MY FRIEND WAS RIGHT! PAINTBRUSH AND SMUDGING IS THE WAY TO GO!

The last one was interesting. I had to do a lot more work, but my way still works. Any color, any size.

I think I've got it. I'll rework my older manips with this too.

Here's my first attempt.

Likewise; using GIMP as well. Just starting so I went for something easy. Hope it's okay ^^;

Huh. You posted it here. That's fine and all...

Anyways, yeah, you're looking good. Really good...

Might I suggest for your 2nd image with the anime girl, remove the light thingy on the bottom of her eye. Kinda makes it look more hypno-y.

Yeah sorry if it seems like I kind of hijacked the thread. I just saw this on the first page and I didn't want to make another "starting to manip" thread so I just used this. *~*

Anyway I did a second take on it, getting rid of the lightness on the lower part of her eyes. i.imgur.com/Q7puEfZ.jpg

Not sure if it's worthy of an upload or not but either way I'm quite happy with it.

That looks really good to me. I'd use this rather than the second one. It's common in this type of empty eyes to leave that bright part of the eye. Like post #9745.
